We recently connected with Loose Voltage and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Loose, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
This year, March 20th, 2023 (First Day of Spring) I released my project, “Monarch”. This album was meaningful to me because it captured a moment in my life where I didn’t know what will happen next and allowed me to open up and be vulnerable which was like a form of therapy. 2 years prior my wife was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma, while being 7 months pregnant with my son, Saint. Monarch, represents getting 2nd chance at life, like how a caterpillar goes through the process of becoming a butterfly. And honestly we all can relate to being uncomfortable and having to transform to survive or reach our full potential.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve always had a love for creating. I was the kid who would take apart devices and try to put them back together. Sometimes not so successfully. I loved to draw and design also. My father, exposed me to all genres of music and still runs a non-profit organization today called Unity Jazz Foundation, working to keep jazz alive in schools. I can thank my brother for putting me on to Hip-Hop. Spending countless hours listening to his cassettes. From OutKast, Jay-Z, and Hot Boys to name a few. I picked up the pen and never looked back. Loose Voltage (Voice of Love Truth and Good Energy) was born. I don’t want to be looked at as a typical rap artist, I want to say something that will spark ideas and conversation. I feel like when a new listener hears me, I’ll want to leave them wanting to hear more. So that’s why I make so much music because I have to create. I’m inspired by everything, I see beauty in everything. I created a clothing-line named after my children Start by Logan Saint for an additional outlet to design, while also creating another form income. Honestly, I feel like I wouldn’t be me if I couldn’t create art with my creative control.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The journey my wife and I faced these last couple of years were difficult, but I’m thankful we made it through. I During her fight with cancer. I tried my best to comfort her the best I could and make sure the house hold was maintained. This involved me working two jobs literally around the clock. It wasn’t all bad I actually ended up using my night-shift job, to write the album. I’m thankful for my family who stepped up to help watch our kids and be there overstep of the way. We couldn’t have done this with out them.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal these days, is to create an industry that respects the Art. With AI and an oversaturated scene, the music sometime gets overlooked or forgotten because music is being made so fast now. I think when artist are true to themselves, the talent and passion cannot be denied. I want to continue, reaching new fans and growing my following because I know my voice and story will help people all over for years to come.
