We were lucky to catch up with Looking West recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Looking thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I think we first knew we wanted to pursue music professionally when we reached that age that our parents wanted us to get jobs. It was a no brainer for us. We love what we do so when it came time for us to either work some minimum wage job or play music for a living, we chose music.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are Looking West! We are a band based out of Southern California that plays a mix of rock covers and original music. We all got bit by the bug and ever since we were kids have wanted to play music. Playing live and recording music started as a hobby but soon became our career as we began to get gig offers around town.
What sets us apart from other bands is that we started playing out at a really young age and we have this chemistry and connection from us to the audience that is really unique. Our songs also have a cool mix of retro and modern rock elements, which is kind of different as well.
We’re so proud of the community we have built around our music here in Southern California. We’ve made so many musical friends since starting our professional journey just over a year ago and the progression of our playing has just gotten better and better.
We also have two singles out currently that we’re very proud of: “Acting Sideways” and “I See A Man” are both streaming on all major streaming sites!
Band members:
Dylan Brehm: Singer and guitarist
Evan Grant: Bassist
Evan Brehm: Drums

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being artists is that we can share our gifts with people all over. Traveling to new locations all the time is very special. It’s like having a new office every single day.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Over the last few months, we’ve lost a studio and a bunch of equipment, and that of course has been a challenge. But we were able to find some new studios to rehearse in and bought our own equipment and since then, have decided to build our own studio to continue our dream.
