We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lonny P. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lonny below.
Lonny, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was younger, maybe around 10. I used to rap and sing songs and make my own music. When I was in middle school I played piano and then trombone in band class. I joined the marching band in high school. So my passion was always there I just finally started to pursue it in 2022
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I began rapping at a young age. I wrote my first rap maybe around age 10. My dad got me this laptop in middle school and I learned how to record my own songs. I would randomly sing a lot too growing up. I found out that music was my passion at a very young age. I feel like I help people through my music. I talk about real life problems in my music. I feel like I’m different from other artists because I am able to make all genres and styles of music. I can take on any challenge when it comes to music and turn it into a really amazing song, no matter the beat or artist I’m collaborating with. I’m most proud that I never gave up. I put my all into my music and despite what negativity anybody says, I kept going. I love all my supporters and pray everyone continues to support me through my journey with music.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I used to doubt myself about my music. I struggled with worrying about what others would think. One day I entered into this competition with 100 other artists. We had to submit a song for each round and if the judges liked it then we would make it to the next round. 4 of 5 judges had to like your song. All judges were professionals of the industry including A&Rs. I made it to the final round and I made 4th place out of 100 other artists. That boosted my confidence a lot. I knew then I had what it took.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It’s most rewarding as an artist to know that people love your music. To know you were able to help your supporters through their real life situations. No matter how big or small you helped them. It’s also feels amazing as an artist to be able to tell your story to others and others actually want to listen to your story.
