We were lucky to catch up with Lonnie Mintz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lonnie, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Being a successful Realtor in the highly competitive Los Angeles market takes more than just a license and a smile—it takes relentless drive, constant communication, and a true passion for helping people. For over 25 years, I’ve worked seven days a week to deliver results for my clients, whether they’re buying, selling, or leasing residential properties. I’ve helped hundreds of individuals and families navigate one of the most important financial decisions of their lives, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. My clients know that I pick up my own phone, I follow up long after the transaction is complete, and I hustle every single day to make sure their needs are met. That’s how I’ve earned over 150 verified 5-star reviews on Zillow—by showing up, listening carefully, communicating clearly, and fighting to get the very best outcome for every client I serve.
One of the values that defines how I do business is my belief that every client deserves the absolute best representation, whether they’re buying a $200,000 mobile home or selling a $20,000,000 luxury estate. Every home matters. Every client matters. I understand that a property often holds deep emotional and financial importance, and I treat every transaction with the same focus, professionalism, and care—regardless of price point.
Recently, I had the privilege of helping a family sell their late father’s home while they were dealing with the grief of his passing—and doing so from out of the area. They trusted me not just to sell the property, but to be their eyes, ears, and boots on the ground during an incredibly difficult time. I took the time to walk the home thoroughly, even searching for sentimental items they may have missed, because I knew this was more than just a transaction. It was personal. That trust, and being able to deliver a successful, smooth sale, is what fuels my passion for this business. Another client—who is himself a licensed broker for over 30 years—told me he knew immediately upon meeting me at an open house that I was someone who went above and beyond to present properties in their best light. He later hired me to sell his own home and said I exceeded his expectations every step of the way. Experiences like these remind me why I never cut corners, why I educate myself continuously with top trainers like Rodèo Realty Owner Syd Leibovitch, Tom Ferry, Roger Butcher, and Lorna Hines, and why I treat every client like family.
From expert pricing strategies and negotiation to door knocking, direct mail, social media marketing, and open houses, I work around the clock to earn my clients’ trust—and their results. Whether it’s someone selling their first home or navigating a multimillion-dollar estate, my commitment remains the same: to fight for the best outcome and make the process as smooth, transparent, and rewarding as possible. There’s no downtime in real estate—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Lonnie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who may be learning about me for the first time, real estate isn’t just a career—it’s a lifelong passion that I’ve been dedicated to since 1998. I got my start while still in college, working as an assistant to some of the top agents at Fred Sands. That experience was foundational—it taught me not only the mechanics of the business but also how important it is to build relationships, pay attention to detail, and always be one step ahead of the market. After earning my degree from CSUN, I jumped into real estate full-time and never looked back. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with and learning from the best in the industry, from my early days at Sunset Realtors and Coldwell Banker to my current home at Rodèo Realty, where I’ve been a proud top-producing agent every year since 2013. In recent years, I’ve been honored to receive recognition from the Wall Street Journal’s Real Trends, ranking in the Top 1.5% of Agents Nationwide in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
What I provide is more than just buying or selling homes—I offer peace of mind, expert negotiation, and a level of service that leaves nothing to chance. My marketing strategies are sharp, creative, and tailored to each listing. From high-end photography, cinematic property videos, and virtual tours to customized websites, targeted social media campaigns, and traditional advertising in major publications like the Los Angeles Times, I make sure my listings shine. But beyond the marketing, what truly sets me apart is my commitment to my clients. I am available day and night, I answer my own phone, and I handle every detail personally. I want every client—whether they’re a first-time buyer, a seasoned investor, or selling a beloved family home—to feel confident, supported, and well-informed every step of the way. What I’m most proud of isn’t just the awards, but the long-term relationships I’ve built and the trust I’ve earned. If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my work, it’s this: I will show up, I will work hard, and I will fight for your best outcome like your home is my own.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What’s helped me build my reputation within the Los Angeles real estate market is a combination of relentless work ethic, deep market knowledge, and a commitment to always doing what’s right for my clients. I don’t take shortcuts. I show up early, stay late, and handle every transaction as if it were my own. I know that in this industry, your name is everything—so I’ve made it a point to consistently deliver results, communicate clearly, and be available 24/7. My clients know I will always answer the phone, give them honest advice, and go to battle to protect their interests. Over the years, I’ve developed a reputation not just as a top producer, but as someone who genuinely cares—who listens, solves problems, and gets the job done no matter how complex the situation. That level of service and dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, and I believe it’s what has earned me the loyalty of my clients and the respect of my peers in the market.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Past clients are the backbone of my business, and their referrals are both the greatest compliment and the most powerful testament to the work I do. I’ve built my career on relationships, not transactions, and that’s why so many of my new clients come directly from those I’ve helped in the past. When someone trusts me enough to refer a friend, family member, or colleague, it tells me I’ve not only delivered great results, but also created a lasting impression through integrity, hard work, and relentless dedication. My goal with every client is to exceed expectations—because I know that when people feel truly cared for and expertly represented, they become advocates for my business. Whether I’m negotiating a record-setting sale, guiding a first-time buyer, or helping a family through a sensitive transition, I bring the same energy, precision, and commitment. That consistency is what fuels my reputation and keeps clients coming back—and spreading the word. Their trust is the reason I get to do what I love every day.
