We were lucky to catch up with Lonnie Lyle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lonnie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents “Richard And Elsie Stegall” early on in my life showed me what it was like to work hard for what you want. I watched them both work hard everyday hardly ever calling out unless me, and my little sister “Requel” had appointments or was sick. The grind never stopped until my mom retired from the school system and my pops had a stroke. Even after my pops stroke he was still working managing properties around Atlanta(Surrounding Cities). Those skills, mindsets, and grind are deeply embedded in me and how I go about my everyday life. Love them for that.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My 1st take at the music industry was making beats on “Fruity Loops 3” Or FL Studio for the new best makers back when I was in middle school. Beats was ehhh….. So I began to rap. In my mind I was already rapping these rappers songs just like them and I could rap better then the people I was giving my beats to. One of my 1st times recording was at a guy i worked wit at zoo atlanta home studio. My boys “Bo, and D-Ram” rode with me out there and we recorded 2 songs. We was so turnt about those songs. Listened to them 2 songs the whole way home. Next come YouTube. I was on YouTube early. Let my boy D-Ram tell it me and “Soulja Boy” was the 1ST 2 Rappers on YouTube. I was always filming moments. People would ask me “Why you always recording stuff man” I would respond “I love capturing moments, Because you never know when someone is leaving this earth. After that I made a song called “I’m Addicted To Money” that got a lot of people attention. “Mr. ColliPark” told me he liked it after one of my performances at a spot in East Point, Ga called “Flashback” where he had his showcase at. Couple years later I had my daughter “Laniyah” (Big Drac). She changed my whole life for the better. Now I really have a purpose. 1st video of her is still on YouTube today. As she got old me and her started make videos and they were(Still is) very funny. With her singing, dancing, and roasting me. I’ve had plenty of people tell me our videos help out their day, motivate, and inspire them. Homeboy watched me raise her, and followed my blueprint. We still years later make funny, and inspiring videos. Had my 1st professional music video “Im Broke Baby” shot by Boosie personal videographer and my homeboy “Chuck Star FIlms” video came out crispy and flawless and the song is my most streamed at over 81,000 streams on spotify. Need 100k by December 31st. One of my biggest musical accomplishments is Being on a song produced by: “Eric Bobo” of the famous group “Cypress Hill” And Stu Bangas” on the song with me is “The Wordsmith and the Legend “Khujo Goodie” of “Goodie Mobb”. And that song is the only song I’ve done that my pops said out the blue “Hey who is this?! I like this song” I could’ve cried in the car when he said that to me. I was proud to tell him that was me. And through that song I’ve built a relationship with “khujo Goodie” he’s like a big brother now to me. I was also in a movie entitled “Dirty Birds”. Its on Tubi & Amazon Prime. After that i did 5 skits with “Massart” and his girlfriend “Who Is Shonda” couple years ago and they got 100s of thousands of views on tiktok. Juat recently me and my boy “G-Hustla” had a idea to do a web series entitled “Mani-Finesse”. We had auditions in June for a few female roles and it went great. Had a setback from proceeding due to the passing of my pops on July 16th. Turned my whole world upside down but I’m getting back to myself and we will start filming very soon. How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
If only people would share, like, and comment their own friends content/music like how they do already famous creators and musicians. It’s free to do I promise.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
BE CONSISTENT. If a video you thought was going to hit/go viral did. Post it again and then post it again. Just keep trying and please network. Go to these content creator seminars. They really work.
