We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lonely Choir. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lonely below.
Hi Lonely, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I began pursuing a creative career about a year ago. I have always written songs on my own, but I never took it too seriously. A few friends of mine encouraged me to really consider pursuing it. It took a few people believing in me to finally give it a go.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I write and perform a lot of tunes. When I am writing a song my rule is to be as honest as possible. I try to not think of offending people/friends/family. I look at songwriting as another form of journaling. My hopes in doing this is to create a vulnerable space when performing. I hope to encourage the listeners to face a feeling they wouldn’t typically face.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Getting the chance to meet other artists/ creatives has been the most rewarding aspect of pursuing music. I happened to be dealing with a lot of grief & life changes when I first pursued music. There was something very healing about the consistency of seeing familiar faces each week at music related events. I have been immersed in a life giving community, which has been so helpful for my mental health.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Yes, jocks will never understand my journey as a creative. They are too focused on the footballs. My insight would be to get rid of the footballs. Thank you.
