Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to London Green. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
London, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you manage your own social media?
I manage my own social media pages. I have created my personal brand by being consistent with social media. I began my Youtube channel in 2017 and took my Instagram account more seriously. This led me to multiple brand collaborations and extreme growth on my platforms. I learned the dos and don’ts of growing a social media page through trial and error and tons of research. Because I manage my own pages, I know I am capable of handling others as well. That is why I have not hired anyone else to do so.

London, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a Spring 2022 college graduate, a North Carolina A&T Alum. I was a student-athlete for 4 years majoring in Entrepreneurship. I began consistently creating content that showcased how I styled my natural hair. Eventually, my hair became my personal brand, leading me to gain thousands of followers. I landed my first brand collaboration with Palmers’s hair care line through a program called Impressions of Beauty. I entered this program by entering a hair contest at my school and winning, a blessing in disguise. This program really helped me be a better influencer and connected me with great companies. As I continued to expand my brand I began to gain more attraction from my cheerleading content. This led me to campaigns, allowing me to represent my university with major companies like Home Depot. Building a personal brand isn’t an easy thing to do. However, I have enjoyed the journey and every up and down that comes with it. I am not done yet and there will be so much more coming from me soon.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have always had different types of friends. Friends from all different backgrounds, friends from athletics, from the boys and girls club, from English class, and from a simple meet and greet. I believe that is why people like me because I accept others for who they are no matter what. I’ve been told my personality makes others comfortable and happy to be in my presence. People tell me all the time they enjoy my spirit on social media and they can tell that I am just being myself. I remember being in middle school and one of my Instagram posts got its first 100 like and that wasn’t so common. I continued to be myself and produce great content. People have always loved my hair and I know it has a uniqueness about it, so I capitalized on it. Helping people with tips and tricks to better their hair journey and just producing watchable content was my key to growth. People who had no relation to natural hair would tell me they loved watching my videos. Remaining yourself and producing good quality content will take you far. Pictures and videos do not have to be extremely perfect. Showing your flaws lets others know that you are authentic, which allows people to relate to you even more.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, it is receiving compensation for my work. Being compensated by someone or a company lets me know that I am good enough. It lets me know that my hard work and time have paid off. It tells me that I am capable of much more. Being compensated for creating content reminds me to keep going and never give up.
