We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lona Czerwinski. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lona below.
Lona, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
While I was at my last corporate job, I knew that this role was no longer for me; corporate was no longer for me. However, I recognized there were aspects of my job that I really enjoyed and challenged me. So I set off on a path of finding a career that felt more aligned with my passions, my skills, and the life I wanted to live. After doing numerous interviews for a variety of positions, an old colleague of mine was hosting a workshop on what a Virtual Assistant (VA) is and what they do. This was my ‘ah-ha’ moment! I then started my journey of becoming a VA.
I invested in working with coaches, participated in workshops, and worked alongside other VA’s to really learn as much as I could about this career. In this process, I also learned that many of my skills I acquired while working in corporate and in tech, could not only be utilized but was also needed among the community I wanted to serve.
During that time, I started taking steps on improving my mental and physical health. I worked with life coaches, therapists, and a fitness coach to support me. I know how much they have all helped me and others, so I knew then that I wanted to work with health and wellness providers.
Since then I have been supporting healthpreneurs with their business as a VA, Tech VA, and a Canva designer.
Lona, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Lona and I love working with health and wellness providers! With my services, I help scale and elevate their business by establishing and optimizing efficient systems and automations as well as their visuals. This can include CRM (customer relationship management) setups, automations, landing page design, social media graphics creation, course creation, project management, etc. When working with me, my clients are able to focus on what is truly important to them and focus on supporting their own clients.
When I’m not working I enjoy traveling, spending time with my partner and our dog, and powerlifting!
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
When I first discovered the world of virtual assistants (VA), I was working full time at my corporate job. It was a nice way to earn a little extra income and a nice change of pace from my “regular” job. However, the stress of my main job was really starting to wear on my relationship with myself, my partner, and my friends/family. I knew something needed to change.
My side-hustle of being a VA was doing really well at the time so I decided to take the risk, be brave and focus solely on my business. Thankfully with referrals and social media, I was able to work with my dream clients full time!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
After a while of working as a VA, I felt that I needed to evolve my business. The type of work I was doing was perfect for when I first started but I knew I had more skills to offer. I invested in a business coach to really help narrow down my skills, my offers, and what I was really passionate about. I knew I missed working in tech but I also loved being creative. So rather than focusing on general administrative tasks, I decided to elevate my business to focus on tech systems as well as design. This allowed both my passions to work side by side. Since then, I have been helping healthpreneurs establish efficient systems and have visually appealing graphics in their advertising.
