We recently connected with Lola Blu and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lola, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
My whole life I have known that I wanted to do something involving music. When I graduated high school I was on track to go to college for musical theatre and environmental science, I thought that I had to double major because I had people tell me that it would be too hard to do something musical. I went to college and wasn’t happy with what I was doing so I left to figure out what I needed to be happy. I had a 9-5 job and a boring routine, I have always loved music and started posting videos of me singing. Friends and family were very supportive and gave me a lot of great feedback to keep going, the first video I posted was the moment I realized I really wanted to peruse becoming a singer/songwriter and it has only gotten better since then.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I sing covers and original music all over the Midwest and am even starting to branch out further than that. Making my own music and sharing that with the world is my biggest goal, I currently have one song on music streaming platforms and am planning on releasing an album later this year (2023). I am passionate about bringing the storytelling and passion back to country music or music in general.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Social media is one of the best way to support small artists, now days everything is online and people can gain a lot of following and views online. You can like and repost things from the artists and follow them on all of their socials. Other ways are come to gigs/shows, buy merch, and tell others.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
When people come up to me and let me know that my songs or covers that I had sung made they’re day it’s such a rewarding feeling. Music is so important in lives and to lift people up with my voice is very motivating.
