Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Loki Gregory . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Loki, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful projects in my artistic career have centered around creating memorial pieces for my collector of friends, family members, and beloved pets. It is a profound honor to be entrusted with the task of capturing their essence and immortalizing their presence on paper. The experience of listening to people reminisce about their departed loved ones fills me with a deep sense of connection and purpose. Through my art, I feel that I am able to give a part of myself, while also carrying fragments of their stories within me. The exchange between art and personal narratives is a powerful and transformative process that continues to shape and inspire my work.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a 21-year-old artist based in the Flint/Grand Blanc/Detroit area of Michigan. Art has been an integral part of my life since I could first hold a pencil. My creative journey has been fueled by a diverse range of inspirations, including horror films, expressions of femininity, nature, and fanart from science fiction, video games, and movies.
Discovering my calling as a freelance artist was a pivotal moment for me. It wasn’t until I attended a Comic Con at the age of 10 and experienced the vibrant energy of Artist Alley that I realized being an artist was within my reach. Since then, I have been devoted to honing my skills and bringing my unique artistic vision to life. I’ve been selling my work and building my business since 2019.
In terms of products and services, I offer a variety of offerings to my clients. These include prints and original paintings, featuring both fanart and my own original designs. I work with mediums such as gouache, oil, and digital art, allowing me to explore different techniques and create diverse visual experiences.
What sets me apart is not only my artistic style but also my commitment to exceptional customer service. I strive to ensure that my collectors are not just satisfied but truly delighted with their products. I go above and beyond in my attention to detail, from the quality of my artwork to the packaging I provide. It’s important to me that each piece arrives in pristine condition and that the entire experience exceeds expectations.
I take great pride in my ability to connect with my audience and create art that resonates with them. It’s an honor to see my work find a special place in the hearts of others. Whether you’re a potential client, follower, or fan, I want you to know that I pour my passion, dedication, and artistic vision into every piece I create. I strive to bring joy, inspiration, and a touch of magic into the lives of those who experience my art.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me, my brand, and my work. I look forward to connecting with you and sharing the beauty of art in all its forms.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My artistic journey is driven by a few specific goals that I hold close to my heart. In the next 10 to 20 years, my aspiration is to reach a point where I can sustain myself solely through my art. I believe that art has the power to touch lives, and I want to create pieces that are accessible and enjoyable to a wide audience while also catering to more specific niches. My goal is also to branch out and design more retail products such as clothes, trinkets, stickers, accessories etc.
Beyond personal success, I am passionate about giving back to the community and supporting charitable causes that align with my values. As I continue to grow and develop as an artist, I hope to use my platform and financial stability that to make a positive impact on the world around me.
Connecting with collectors and fellow artists is another crucial aspect of my journey. I value the relationships I build along the way and strive to create a community of like-minded individuals who share a love for art. Making friends and fostering connections within the art world is not only fulfilling but also serves as a source of inspiration and growth.
Ultimately, my dream is to see my work reach every corner of the world. I want my art to evoke emotions, spark joy, and leave a lasting impression on those who encounter it. Whether it’s through exhibitions, collaborations, or online platforms, I aim to have a global presence that transcends borders and brings people together through the universal language of art.
With my goal of sustaining myself through my art, supporting charitable causes, connecting with others, and sharing my work with a global audience, I am driven to push the boundaries of my creativity and make a meaningful impact on both the art community and the world at large.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When it comes to building my audience on social media, my journey began on Instagram. I started sharing my art on the platform back in 2017, but it wasn’t until 2019 that I received my first commission. Building an audience takes time and dedication, and there are a few key strategies that have helped me along the way.
First and foremost, it’s essential to stay informed and updated on how the algorithm of the platform works. Social media platforms constantly evolve, and they may change their algorithms to favor certain types of content or engagement. By staying informed, I have been able to adapt my strategies to align with these changes and maximize the visibility of my art.
Engagement is also crucial in building an audience. Interacting with your followers, responding to comments, and initiating conversations help foster a sense of community around your art. Actively engaging with niche hashtags and communities related to your artistic style or interests can also be beneficial. This allows you to connect with individuals who share a similar passion and may be interested in your work.
Consistency is key as well. Regularly posting new content and showcasing your artistic journey helps to maintain and grow your audience. Sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses, progress shots, and works in progress can provide unique insights into your creative process and further engage your followers.
Lastly, don’t be afraid to explore collaborations and partnerships. Connecting with other artists, influencers, or relevant brands can help expand your reach and introduce your art to new audiences. Collaborations allow for cross-promotion and can provide mutually beneficial opportunities for growth.
For those starting to build their social media presence, my advice would be to remain persistent, patient, and open to learning. Building an audience takes time, so don’t get discouraged if growth feels slow initially. Stay engaged with your followers and the art community, stay updated on platform changes, and continue honing your craft. Most importantly, be authentic and true to your artistic voice. Showcasing your unique perspective and passion will resonate with your audience and help you build a loyal following.
