We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Logen Christopher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Logen below.
Logen, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I am first and foremost, a storyteller. I found my way to film production at a young age, and saw the potential for true human connection in the art, and was hooked. There is no greater medium that expresses societies consciousness, or that has the opportunity to shape it. Running a business was never my main motivation, it really became a necessity when traditional avenues into the industry were closed to me. I grew up in a very loving family in a beautiful place, but watched my family struggle every day to keep us afloat. There was no one in my family with connections to the industry, or magical viral opportunities that capitulated me into opportunity, there Is only passion and dedication that have helped me reach this point. When we founded Stormlight Pictures, it was to tell impactful stories in our own unique way, but to mainly give opportunities to creators like myself who had no free rides. We have had the honor of working with clients in every facet of entertainment, business and art and are constantly inspired by everyone’s unique and significant stories. We aim to tell those stories, and hopefully change some hearts and minds along the way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
One of my real advantages in life, has been my head start. I knew very early on that I wanted to make movies. I have a pretty typical early story, I got ahold of a Hi-8 video camera and made little short films with my friends, action figures and my very reluctant sisters. My first gig in movies was on the set of a film my Father had heard was shooting in the small town of Waterville, Maine nearby where I grew up. He found a way to get them to agree to take his teenager son on as free labor, because he knew what a passion it was for me. From then I spent most of my high school years on different productions as a PA, and in G&E in Boston and the Northeast, driving to whatever gig I could get. I spent some time in NY and LA and eventually landed in Nashville, where I found a film industry on the rise and a community that was supportive, energizing and rich. The natural evolution of my own career led to the formation of our production company Stormlight Pictures, where we support artists, musicians, businesses and filmmakers with infrastructure and creative services for projects of all shapes and sizes. We have a small ragtag everyday team that have won awards in different avenues and together we have made our mark on the scene here in a significant way. My expertise is in powerful, affordable storytelling that allows people to connect with their audiences deeply and often.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When Stormlight was founded it was 3 of us. Just as we signed our second lease on our studio here in Nashville, our Producer Matthew was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. Six months later he was gone. The years following were very hard, my business partner at the time moved into his own freelance gig and I took the whole company on my shoulders. I basically didn’t sleep for 18 months, and we still feel the effects of this. But my team has grown into a scrappy powerhouse that I know Matthew would be proud of.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
There is no movie, job, project, ANYTHING, that is more important than your people. That applies to your crew, clients and contractors. I have so many stories of the experience of working with amazing people, and can tell you very little about what was actually being worked on at the time. How you treat those who work for you is a direct reflection on your work, and no work is worth disrespecting others that give your their trust, expertise, and valuable time.
