We were lucky to catch up with Logan Warren recently and have shared our conversation below.
Logan , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
We started our project Gone Before Us in 2017, almost 8 years ago. When the four of us met (Logan, Charlie, Ethan, Jason) we knew pretty immediately we had something special. We all had a deep passion for music, art and community and something sparked when we met. We all practiced together as much as we could, writing as much material as we could handle, and told every living soul about what we were doing. There was a lot exciment and passion, but it didn’t really set in until we started playing shows.
We started this out as a hobby and thought it’d be cool do be able to do it professionally, but we never thought we’d reach a point to actually be able to do that. To our surprise, the people at the shows we played said they truly loved what we were doing, and we knew we had to keep going.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
To put it simply, Gone Before Us is a musical experience that blends the boundaries of several different genres into a new heavy groove. We pour our heart and soul into our musical releases and the preformaces that accompany them. It’s a high energy show that has all diffrent kinds of music, but even if the genre changes between songs, you can still tell theres a theme, and that it’s made by the same people.
We’ve been doing this for a long time and have been DIY the whole time; it all comes down to our passion for music. We’re so happy that our infulence can spread organically and inspire people. A lot of people who saw us went on to make their own popular bands, and start their own musical paths and that honestly is just amazing for us. All we want to do is inspire people to be who they are, do what they want to do, create, and experince life to the fullest extent. We want people to start their own bands, come out to local shows with friends, meet new people, form memories and feel the love!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It’s just being able to provide a postive experience to people. Hearing people say we’re their favorite band, or that they want to play their own music after seeing us, or that they never knew shows could be so cool/fun, its amazing. That’s truly what it’s all about. Shows should be fun, a safe place, a place for people to come together and forget about everything and just LIVE. It should be an experience you don”t forget, and one that you can look back on and feel good about it. Inspring people to love more, create more, and be more is one of the most beautiful things in life.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Litereally just start posting what you think is cool and what you want people to see. Don’t care about the numbers, the views, the analytics, just be yourself. There will always be someone who sees what you”re doing and think it’s awesome. Everything you do should be out of passion for the craft. If you just stay genueine and true to yourself, you will be successful.
