We recently connected with Logan Thibodeaux and have shared our conversation below.
Logan , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success starts with a vision. A dream.
Success is not letting fear hold you back.
It takes getting up everyday and pushing yourself to be the best version of yourself, even if takes tears to get there. Show up & Grind. It’s not an option.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Becoming a hairstylist was my back up plan.
So many students go to school and never use the degree/license they go for.
I knew during cosmetology school this was for me.
Eventually I found my first salon where I fell in love with the salon life.
This new found home fueled my fire. After the new wore off, my fire almost burned out. No one tells you, but the first three years are TOUGH! You must have a side hustle until you get your feet planted.
The business is competitive and ever changing. It’s up and down. Clients come for years, you build relationships, while some stay some move on.
You can’t please everyone.
Working Saturdays are a must. That’s THE day in the salon. Plus you’ll make the most money since most people work Monday -Friday.
In school one thing that stuck with me was when one of my instructors said “do something that sets you apart from others.”
Something that sets me apart, every shampoo is a therapeutic mini scalp & neck massage. It’s complimentary from my heart because I care.
Massage therapy was my the first career choice after high school. I still have love for it so I may get another license. Always as a business owner be open to new adventures and possibilities.
No one can take your education from you.
You must have passion, and a clear vision. Set your mission, and make it happen.
I’ve had my own salon for almost 5 years now. I’ve been behind the chair as a hairstylist for almost a decade. I’ve built my brand and I finally feel accomplished in my career.
Be driven and stay committed to your dream
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social Media and word of mouth.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Staying consistent on the latest trends and achieving them. Hair cutting, coloring, and styling is an art. Trust the process and practice makes perfect!
