Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Logan Duran. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Logan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
When I decided to open up my own salon it was mainly because I realized that the salon industry and environment as a whole needed a change and I was ready to start making that change.
The salon environment can easily become a place of competition, gossip and quite honestly, drama. When you’re working in a place that revolves around everyone wanting to be the best and the most successful it creates friction and resentment within the workplace and against coworkers.
I truly believe that there is more power in supporting eachother and helping eachother grow than trying to ‘outshine’ everyone around you. As I often say, there’s room for us all to make it.
While doing so, I believe it makes clients feel far more comfortable as well. My clients love that I support everyone in my industry and not just those who work for me.
I opened up an all booth-rental salon 3 years ago in August of 2021. This means, everyone within my salon owns and operates their own business within my space. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming and relaxing place for these individuals to run their own businesses and let them thrive. I believe this business structure takes away the “competition” aspect and allows us all to cheer eachother on and work together as a team. We are all just regular people, working hard every day to run a successful business. We all are able to respect and support each others hussle while doing it together.

Logan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are a full service salon full of self-emoloyed cosmetologist. We offer a variety of services such as hair services, nail services, eyebrows and eyelash extensions.
This means every stylist here owns and operates their own business within the salon so you will always be supporting small and local.
We are all independent women and mothers who work hard every day to create a clean, relaxing and safe environment for our clients to come and relax. This is a space where we strive to show patience, love, and support to all of our fellow workers and clientele

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My husband, Armando, has been telling me since I was 15 years old that he would get me my own salon one day. That was back when we were kids just having crazy dreams. But throughout the 13 years we’ve been together he never stopped believing. After I’ve been working in the industry for about 8 years and Covid hit a lot within the industry, and the rest of the world changed. And that’s when he really pushed for me to try. I was scared and almost backed out. I was a mother of 2 and felt like I couldn’t juggle it all, but when he showed me a building and a space for the salon and asked me just to look and keep an open mind, I walked in and immediately knew it was going to be mine.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I’m still building, but my best advice is to just keep posting. Dont stop even if you get no interactions. We live in a world where social media is our resume and our reference sheet. Keep on posting and you’ll find your business start to pick up
