We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LoFrmDaMo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
LoFrmDaMo, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Thanks for having me! Once I turned 14 I was fully committed to the idea of pursing my music career. All of my earlier years I always wanted to be a doctor, but as I realized music was my true passion that went out the window. I eventually informed my family of my plans for college; a music degree. I was talked out of it by all of the “what ifs”, something I now look back and feel I shouldn’t have let stop me. But I feel it’s all going to go exactly how it should in the end, even if it wasn’t my way.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’ve always been around music. Even before I was born music was a big part of my life. My mother exposed me to symphonies in the womb, and I swear even now I can’t ever get music out of my head. I can literally conjure up music to enjoy in my mind in a dull moment. I recorded my first song ever at 5 years old, with my uncle who is also musically inclined. I’ve been in love with music since and it’s only grown over time. It was only right I put my passion and talent into my music. What sets me apart from others is my determination. I’ve had a lot of setbacks just in the last two years, that could potentially hinder someone. I took those problems and made them the solution. Lemonade out of lemons if you will. I’m proud of my ability to get over my anxiety and go for what I want. I let being shy hold me back for so long and now i’m READY for it all. I’m just ready for people to see what i’ve known all along. I’m going to be great and do even greater things. I’m filled with greatness.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of my artistry is to see the people interact with and enjoy my creations. It’s one thing to hit the studio and create a “hit”, that you and the engineer, maybe even people around you like. But when strangers and people from the other side of the world give positive feedback and genuinely want more it gives me a feeling like no other. I create for several reasons, but the most important one is just making something that people can FEEL.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
We as a society tend to only support those who have seemed to already “made it”. We don’t uplift the underdogs and support, it all seems a bit clickish when I look at the climate of social media and the way things are handled. If we were more unified and genuinely supported each other we could thrive even more.
