We recently connected with Lloyd Da Gh0ul and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lloyd , thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Pin pointing a risk I’ve taken is hard AF! 2 things about “Da Gh0ul” is I’m a risk taker and I like to gamble. In 1 particular instance, I took a risk to outreach to a different graphics artist for my cover art(even though I already had a DOPE friend/brother “Christian Boucher” doing my artwork). Not only did I not like the results of the artist reached out to, but they also stopped returning my calls/texts/emails about revisions I requested. All in all a lesson was learned. Which is don’t believe EVERY person who says they see, recognize, and respect your craft/vision. Some folks just do it for the money 🤑

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into music EARLY! At the age of 8 I wrote my 1st song and recorded it on a stereo w/mic and by 13 I made my 1st beat. Starting off I didn’t take it as serious because I was focused on football, but around age 16 I created my 1st home studio and ACTUALLY started putting records out. To my surprise people I was showing them too was gravitating towards me and wanted me to make more music. My bars, flows, and wordplay REALLY improve with every new project I release but staying relevant and making music to get AND keep people “In their feelings” and “attention grabbing”is a task for ANY artist. I had to discipline myself to “Stop Rapping” and “Make Music”. Music has ALWAYS touched me in SO many ways and I was FINALLY proud of myself when I could perform songs to MULTIPLE crowds who’ve never heard of me grab their attention, KEEP it, and afterwords they run up to me to learn more about me. A few things you can expect from “Da Gh0ul” for all my future fans/business endorsers, Consistency, Drive, Enjoyment, and the sense of TRUE FREEDOM with NO STANDARDS.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
There are a few goals (musically) I am striving for to accomplish greater long term future goals. I want to perform and sell out some of the biggest arenas around the world, I want to have a greater run with my features than “Lil Wayne” and “T-Pain” had 2006-2010 in about the same time. I’m also striving to put me and my family in position to open film/media/entertainment doors around the world without Big wig companies advances, connections, or deciding factors.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Me building my social media following was VERY difficult for me. I’m not an “online talk” kind of person. For those that still don’t understand, it took me SOME TIME to really accept and respect Social Media. I didn’t get the whole list of me waking up, taking a pic, shooting a short video getting ready for day. and more just to impress some folks you never met just to invite MORE people you don’t know into your life. I wasn’t fuxn wit it. Once I started building my fan base I had to learn that fans only stay with consistency. You can be 1 of the hardest song writers ever but if you drop 1 year(its hard) and drop again 1 year later(its descent) , then disappear for 2 years it gets hard to keep that fan engagement and relevancy. Advice for those trying to grow and KEEP a fan base on social media, ENGAGE with Social Media and Social Media will reciprocate what you give.
