Lízży, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How do you think about cost-management? Growing a business is always exciting, but often businesses run into issues when costs grow faster than revenue – have you experienced such an episode? Any advice for other operators around how to keep costs in line?
As a new business (under 5 years) it is extremely hard to keep your spending habits under control. You’ve all heard the theory “It takes money to make money.” This is absolutely true. You can not make money unless you spend money which is why keeping cost down is an extremely hard thing to do. It is very important though because your expenses can and will be greater than your income majority of times. So my best advice to keep cost down is 1. Set a monthly limit and do not go over 2. Look at your monthly or weekly Profit and Loss Statements so you can see what is coming in and out. 3. Go through your bank statements every month. You may have unexpected reoccurring expenses you are unaware of. Look at the needs that are unnecessary and get rid of it. Do you really need that Starbucks drink every morning? Probably not. Finally make a list of the important things that reoccur ever month and a list of the unknown expenses that periodically reoccur such as backbar. If you buy in bulk this will help you save tremendously and eliminate a reoccurring monthly expenses.

I’m often ask what made me switch over from the medical industry to the beauty industry. I always reply with “My Patients” They are the ones who saw something in me that I didn’t see within myself. It took me years to make that switch but I am so glad I did.
What I am most proud of is my brand. Something I developed on my own and seeing it transform and grow is amazing to see. Im excited for what’s to come in the next 10 years. I specialize in Vegan Skincare. I enjoy seeing the results on my clients. My motto is “You are beautiful in your naked skin.” When people come to me for skincare they are guaranteed to leave feeling more confident and beauty in their skin. No makeup is needed!
How did you build your audience on social media?
To build an Instagram audience just simply be yourself. Your personality will show and being authentic will help grow your social media. Post often and daily, be consistent, and socialize on these platforms.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
If you are wanting to start any business I highly recommend saving your coins. Save your money while you are working a 9-5. Start your business part-time until you are earning enough to go full-time. In my industry I recommend saving 15-20k before starting. Supplies, equipment, marketing and bills are all high expenses. Having 6 months saved up will get you started.
