We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lizzie Rose a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lizzie Rose , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I have always known from a very early age that I wanted to be a performer. I knew at 12 it was the career I wanted for myself. I basically forced my parents to let me go to modeling school. never had any doubts in my conviction, then or now. Always enjoyed acting, modeling and being the life of the party. This desire is a part of my personality. I feel it was there at birth.

Lizzie Rose , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! I’m Lizzie Rose a gregarious goofball. I produce , perform and host stand up comedy shows. I also teach comedy & coach comics, helping them to develop their careers. I am an actor & voice over. I often work as an assistant director on multiple theatre production with Stan Zimmerman & Stef Von Huben. Also casting actors. I love writing, singing silly songs to my dogs. I have four diabolically sweet pugs. They are my fur babies. I’m a lover of fashion art, books and animal rescue advocacy.
What sets me apart from the pack is my unique personality, work ethic and genuine care for others. I am down to Earth and curious to learn what other people are about. I love to make friends, exchange ideas, create supportive space for others in an inclusive environment. I am most proud of my ability to motivate people to believe in their talent and what they want to share with the world. People need support in creative endeavors. Talent needs to be nurtured and cared for. Helping others “go for it” is exhilarating. I hope to always help people realize their creativity is their superpower & nothing is out of their reach.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is having the outlet to express yourself. Sharing your creativity with others is fun. Creativity is invigorating. It keeps me on my toes and I always find ways to stay inspired. Life never disappoints with things to reflect on whether positive or negative. Turning negative experiences into humor is a way heal yourself and helps others do the same. Laughter is the best way to share joy and there’s no greater reward than that.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
When you are living in your creativity others may not understand this need for you to express yourself.”I don’t understand why you need to get on stage & spill your guts with those jokes!” It’s fine for people not to understand. It’s an integral part of your unique and special being. You were put on this Earth to live this expression of yourself. What others think of you is not your problem. They don’t need to “get it”. Find people who will embrace, understand, support and contribute to your endeavors. Artists do not need to justify the way they express themselves to non artists. Non artists and artists alike should treat each other with respect. Not everyone is going to appreciate your art.
