We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lizi Gvasalia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lizi below.
Lizi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
It takes a lot to be successful in life. Success can be different for each person. Some can achieve it in a short amount of time. For others, it can happen instantly. Of course, it is natural as every path of life is different and unique.
For me, dedication and a hard-working character are the keys to success. In my opinion, if you are a talented person and also a hard-working individual who dedicates time and energy to improvement, you will achieve success without unnecessary delays.
Right now, I will not surely call myself successful, as I am only a 20-year-old student, but I still have a life ahead of me. Despite this, it can be said that the things I have done are not so bad, and I will discuss them in detail when I introduce myself.
The things I was able to do were a result of my discipline and desire. I may not be the smartest or the most talented person in the room, but I am glad that I was able to accomplish all the things I wanted to. There were times I was not confident in myself and thought that I may not be good enough to do a certain thing. Now I know that you should be confident in yourself and patient with the process. Everything takes time and you may need to work on yourself little by little. As I have said, for some people success can knock on their doors right away. This still does not mean that we should compare ourselves to someone and their path of growth. It is the best option to focus on ourselves and our improvement. I always tell myself that you should always compare yourself only to your older version. I am working and doing something because of my well-being and development. If I am being honest, this idea would have never crossed my mind that a person like me, who is sometimes shy and worries about how others will accept her, would be able to go abroad, meet new people, and learn about their cultures, history, and traditions.
As of now, my opinion and viewpoint on everything has changed, and that includes success as well. It can be said that my point of view was also affected by the people around me I look up to. One of them is my mom who always pushed me towards success and encouraged me in times when I was not sure about my abilities. Another person is my brother. I always see how hard-working he is, and despite some injustices or failures, he still manages to achieve so much. They have a huge impact on my view of success, and I am glad to have them by my side.

Lizi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I will be talking a little about myself. My name is Lizi Gvasalia and I am from Georgia, not one of the states of America, but a country located at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, in the Caucasus region. Despite it being a small country, it has a huge history and of course, I am proud to be Georgian.
I am 20 years old and study at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. I am an active student and participate in some conferences, debates in Arabic, and more activities. This year I took a gap year because I had the chance to go to Saudi Arabia through the exchange program and learn Arabic better. I am also studying Arabic at my university as it will be my bachelor’s.
I have been learning Arabic at the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, Abjad Center for Teaching Arabic Language. It was the best 8 months of my life because I had the opportunity to get in touch with some foreigners and make some friends. I also learned about many cultures, shared mine, and saw some similarities with each other. Besides learning, I had some adventures and had the time of my dreams. I even fulfilled some of my dreams, such as visiting the Harry Potter world in Saudi Arabia. From an early age, I always dreamed of going to Hogwarts and getting an acceptance letter from an owl. I went to the Harry Potter world and felt like I was one of the students and had just been accepted. I thought I was in the movie and was playing a character, it seemed all true.
I also have to state that my journey during these 8 months was extraordinary. I was going on different trips every week and was able to communicate with locals and learn their habits and traditions. Everyone here is very polite and hospitable. The thing that was memorable for me was traditional Arabic coffee with dates. Dates are sweets and there are many kinds. They are very delicious and also good for your health. Sweets in the Arabic world are truly amazing and this fact caught my eye because I have a sweet tooth.
If you want to learn more about me, I like communicating with people and learn many things from them. I also like going for a walk regularly and love nature. Also, my interests in different topics are diverse. For example, I love watching movies and like all the genres. When I am watching a movie, I always concentrate on the story and feel as if I am a part of it.
I like drawing and used to draw regularly. As of right now, I am not doing it but in the future, I hope to come back to it. I also like trying new things. I started a job at a bank as I am interested in everything and try to learn new things.
I know all of this may not seem huge but for me they are special and I am very proud of them. I think that it is the first step of my journey and growth.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As I am getting older, I try to be more resilient. We all know that life is not that simple and we all have our obstacles and failures, it is a part of our journey. Not everything will be easy to achieve. Some things require time and dedication and that also requires resilience. I agree that it is very hard to be resilient all the time as it affects our mental health and well-being. We should always take care of ourselves and it is also a good option to be resilient. It is natural that after a failure you will not feel as confident in yourself, as it happened to me. Also, there were some assumptions that I would not be able to do certain things but I try to ignore them and return to my track quickly. I always tell myself that I should do everything that I wish for and in the case of failure, try it again. Failure is a part of growth and success. Without it, we would not be able to achieve anything.
My mom plays a huge part in my resilience and the characteristics that I have now. She is always by my side and always tells me to never give up and never be uncertain about myself.
In my opinion, resilience is something that you do not get right away. Also for me, it needed some time. It is not always easy to be strong at all times and to do all the work smoothly, without any problems.

How did you build your audience on social media?
If you look at my socials, you will see that I also do not have a huge following but from time to time I have managed to grow an audience. In the past, I did not use social media as much as I do now. I rarely posted pictures or shared stories. Even today, I may not be as active as I should be, but I think I am still doing good. The good thing is that I have people in my following from different countries. I am keeping in touch with them and learn many new things from them as well.
In my opinion, I also have to work on building a social media presence. Despite this, I advise you to be true to yourself and post what you really like. Try to reach your voice to the audience and present yourself authentically. You should not get a mask on to seem ideal and perfect all the time. That is why it is considered that social media is lying to us. That is why some platforms may become misleading. We are humans and it is naturally occurring that not everything will be good all the time. Try to be true to yourself, and to your audience. I also always tell myself not to follow the latest trends. I may not like it so why should I follow it? I should not lose my authenticity and If I do not like something I should not simply do it.
This is advice I give myself when it comes to developing and growing my audience on social media. For me, the important thing is to post the content I want, without depending on anyone’s opinion.
