We recently connected with Lizbeth Garcia and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lizbeth thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When I was coming up with a name I knew I wanted a name that was unique, chic which also represented me and would help build the right brand image to whoever came across my business. I wanted something that would stick and be easy to remember, the shorter the better. I knew I wanted my business to represent me but my name next to it didn’t flow so I chose to add my nickname. My nickname growing up was “dinero” which translates to money in english. I thought why not abbreviate the “money” which then “mny” 3 short letters came about and I paired it with “bouquets”. MNY BOUQUETS was created also known as “Money Bouquets” and the rest is history.
Lizbeth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started MNY Bouquets in July of 2023 after making a thoughtful “ramo buchón” of money for my mother as a thoughtful birthday gift. Me and my siblings joked about how neat it looked for my first “craft” so I jokingly posted the bouquet and let my Instagram followers know about it. I had 4 people inquire and order money bouquets within 24 hours of my story post. I was then encouraged to make a business account, which I did. My family, friends and strangers were very supportive. I started offering flower bouquets which then expanded.
I now offer flower & money bouquets, funeral arrangements, customized bottles. room set ups, diaper bouquets, gift baskets & provide wood arrangements for fellow florist in the U.S.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
When I started MNY Bouquets I was working as an Assistant Manager at my full time retail job and also working part time at another retail store and working on my business at any free given time. It got to a point where unfortunately I dreaded being at work knowing my business is what truly made me happy and was my peace. One morning I woke up and realized I don’t want to do that anymore. I wanted to pursue my business wholeheartedly and I quit both of my jobs 6 months after starting my business. By the grace of God, he has not let me fall even when things got hard he kept my faith strong and has blessed me with immense work and amazing opportunities. Quitting both my jobs to pursue my business was the best decision I ever made.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Being from a big city, where there is 100s of others doing the same as you is not easy at all. Although, my community has not failed me! My friends, family and most importantly my clients plug me in and get my name out any chance they get. A huge amount of new clients have been referrals from past clients which is an amazing feeling and that is a true blessing to have your name in rooms you haven’t stepped foot in.
