We recently connected with Lizbeth Benavides and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizbeth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you got your first non-friend, non-family client. Paint the picture for us so we can feel the same excitement you felt on that day.
My first client was a listing that was originally listed as a for sale by owner. I had seen a few videos talking about reaching out to FSBO to try and get the listing so I decided to give it a try. I reached out and at first he said he wasn’t interested, but then two days later he reached out and asked if I still wanted to list. I had no idea what I was doing, I had barelly had my license for about a month but I acted like I had been doing this for years. After about 60 days we went under contract and closed just in time for Christmas. I was extremely greatful for the opportunity that I had been given. After we closed I personally delivered his closing gift and told him how appreciative I was and confessed he was my first client ever. Certainly one for the books.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been in the Real Estate would for a little over a year now, it’s something I was more pushed into doing. I have been a hair stylist for almost ten years now, so this wasn’t my first calling. My husband was actually the one who had originally started real estate school, but just couldn’t get into the classes so he said I should take the courses. It took some going back and forth before I decided to jump on it, certainly took me over a year to finish because life always happens. But this past year has been amazing, I’ve had the privillage of helping over 20 families purchase their home and excited for those to come. It came very natural and the only regret I have is not starting sooner.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I recently joined Monarca Real Estate Group located in the RGV area. I had been thinking of switching brokers for some time now when I decided to start looking. I reached out to a cousin of mine and asked if she thought her broker (Jisella) would be interested in me joining their team considering I’m in Houston. Turned out she was in town for the weekend and wanted to meet with me. I met with her and loved everything she had to offer. It took me about a week to make the final decision, but haven’t looked back as I know I made the right choice to better my career as a real estate agent.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Keeping in touch with clients is deffinetly very crucial in the real estate would because that’s where referrals come from. I always make my clients feel like family when we start the home buying or selling process. And even after closing, I always try to reach out to see how things are going. I’ll do pop-bys and drop off goodies for them when I get a chance, just to thank them for trusting me with their real estate journey and so they know I’m always there to help whether it’s for them or someone they know looking to buy or sell.
