We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lizaida “Zee” Renta a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lizaida “Zee”, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
HARDWORK! CONSISTENCY! HUMILITY! PATIENCE! HONESTY! FORGIVENESS! FAILURE! COMMITMENT! POSITIVITY! This list is the short list however, these are personally what I think it takes to be successful. Theres no short cut to success furthermore, practicing and implementing great habits will help you get there quicker.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was born in New Britain, Ct, grew up in Tampa, Fl and moved to Orlando to pursue my degree in 2007. I graduated in 2011 with my bachelors in Hospitality management. I started bartending all over Orlando and throughout the years I realized I needed a retirement plan. Bartending nightlife does not have benefits such as health insurance or 401Ks. I knew I always wanted to work for myself so thats where Straight Up Mobile Bartending Services LLC was born. I started this business 5 years ago and this year seems to be the year where everything that I’ve invested and worked hard for is starting to truly scale. As long as I continue to work hard and stay consistent I know we will continue to thrive. I am very proud at the fact that I was able to take the leap and started this business. I’ve learned a lot about myself and others through this journey. If you work with me you will realize that I love to make people feel comfortable through the process the entire time. I like to communicate and make sure I personalize each experience with me. If you are looking for a fun, responsible, professional bartender or mobile bartending service I am the right choice. Straight up!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My entire journey I’ve had to be resilient. I’m first generation college graduate, and my journey getting to college let alone graduating was all about perseverance, self discipline, and remembering my “why”. I carry that attitude throughout my life, relationships and business ventures. Having positive intention with desires and goals has helped me see the sunlight at the end of each situation. One of the gems I took away from UCF was to take charge regarding your goals, dreams and ambitions. Do not wait for someone to save you or “help” you because you are literally wasting time. Charge on!
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Growing up I was involved in sports and the Arts. At some point I was in a leadership position for pretty much every team I was apart of. My god mother always told me I was a natural born leader and as I began in the workforce every job I had I was promoted. Having developed leadership qualities throughout my life has helped prepare me to manage my team here at Straight Up MBS. Positivity, transparency, and communication is what I make sure that I lead with. A great piece of advice I received when I was younger as a leader never be afraid to roll up your sleeves and get involved or ask anyone to do something you would not do. Having fun is also one of my favorites and I believe is what will always keep the morale high. Lead but always be willing to listen and understand that you do not know everything.
