We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Liza Rivera. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Liza below.
Alright, Liza thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Out of the many things my parents did right, one that has impacted me the most has been that they instilled in me the mindset of believing in myself. Not only did they always believe in me, but they propelled me to always believe in myself despite opposition or contrary beliefs. From all of my first experiences like learning how to ride a bike, or trying something new, I always heard them say “you can do it”! This also applied very much to the moments when I didn’t make such great decisions where I was always taught to believe that I had the power to make things better and to make them right.
Having this mentality places a barrier on a lot of the fears we face in life. Many of which come attached to the risk factor of decisions we make in life or our careers. It boosts an individual’s confidence and motivation to address the unknown. I personally witnessed my dad making risky decisions in his business with the belief that he could handle the outcome of the risk.
Liza, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Since 2021 I have run a small consulting firm, All 1 Purpose Consulting, where I focus on empowering minority-owned business owners. The firm provides small businesses with a variety of resources including HR, Marketing and Accounting. My goal is to allow small business owners to thrive in their area of expertise without having to worry about the things they don’t have time to set up and run with.
A year later, I decided to join the real estate industry by becoming a realtor and not only offering my business clients commercial space investment opportunities, but also catering to the residential market.
Simply put, I strive to put minorities in the best position to win in their business endeavors and real estate needs. I believe acquiring a home, land, or investment is attainable by anyone who sets a goal and determines themself to track towards it with purpose. For this reason, I have set to educate the Hispanic community by offering first time homebuyer seminars in different areas of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. There people walk out empowered with important information to put in place their plan of action to obtain a home purchase. The most rewarding part is helping people that didn’t think buying a home was possible see their dream come true!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele is simply being myself and doing what I say I am going to do. You have to gain people’s trust in order for them to become your client and that occurs by having honesty.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My journey as an entrepreneur has definitely not been a walk in the park. At the start of my consulting business my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and I became her caregiver. I was practically having phone calls and video meetings with my clients while at the hospital. I took all of my real estate courses online and took my time in completing them since my time was limited. I managed to keep serving my clients and obtain my real estate license despite the extenuating circumstances.
