Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Liza Curran. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Liza, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Sharing my stories on my own personal website (lizacurran.com) has been the most personally vulnerable I’ve ever been. I’ve always loved writing, memoirs and creative stories, but if it were for anything other than a school assignment I was petrified to share my work. This is the first time I’ve just gone for it. I don’t look to gather a following of any note, but it’s a challenge for myself to just simply put it out. Even if it’s bad… I told myself to just do it scared.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
One of my dearest friends came to me and our other friend, Emily, and told us her idea of starting a coffee instagram that highlights local shops. For the sole purpose of highlighting these local businesses, but also help provide ways to connect people with their community. Coffee shops in America are as pubs to Ireland. They are the central hub of activity; the steadfast hum of our day to day life.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My personal goal, with our coffee instagram and with my own writing, is to reach the outcast; the forgotten; the lonely.
We’re at the age where everyone is getting married; but at the same time everyone is single. The point, whether your single or married, is that your community must be outside yourself. We need each other; regardless of what stage of life you’re in.
That’s why I do what I do. To remind that one person, they are not, in fact, alone.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Hillbilly Elegy – there are few books that leave a truly resounding and lasting impact on me that legitimately changed my viewpoint on a few hot button topics. I believe it to be one of the most influential stories of our time.
