We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Liz Samora. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Liz below.
Liz, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Music has always been an outlet for me in many ways. It is something I know I can always turn to when I feel like I have nowhere to go. For as long as I can remember I was always singing. In the car, down the hallways at school, and by myself. Growing up I was exposed to a lot of different types of music and was always drawn to the complex world of rock and metal. The first time I found myself on a stage as a vocalist I was 12 years old in a band with my older brother. From that point going forward I was hooked. I knew in that moment that I had just filled a piece of my soul that had been missing. Finally allowing myself to let my voice loose and project my emotions to the world without any boundaries is when I first knew that I wanted to take a creative path in music. As a vocalist and a songwriter I feel as if music is my outlet to the world, where I can show everyone who I am through a song. And all I want to do is show the world that part of me. That vulnerability that I can’t express in any other way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have been a musician since I was 12 years old (15 years now) and I am a lyricist, vocalist, and pianist. I have been in my band Absolution since 2017 which was founded by my brother Matt Samora (drums) and Erik Lucero (guitar). Alex Flores (bass) joined the band shortly after and since 2017 we have written multiple songs, and have had success on Spotify, ITunes, Radio, and on social media. We are all from a very rural town in Colorado called Antonito and we want the world to hear our music and appreciate it as much as we do. Each band member has been playing multiple instruments since they were around 12 years old and has developed a unique sound that is characterized by heavy Guitar riffs, powerful drumming, and emotive lyrics and explore themes of love, loss, and empowerment. We love playing shows and recording our music, and writing songs together.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is connecting with total strangers through your music. I may not know them or their story (and vice versa) but through a song we can have a connection and for a brief moment we can feel the vulnerability of our emotions together.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal in my creative journey is simple: share our music with as many people as possible and on the biggest stage we can find! I want the opportunity to record in a super fancy recording studio and tour the world to show people our music and have connections with them on the biggest platform we can! I want to be an inspiration to other people and give them all something to connect to!
