We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Liz Jakubisin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Liz, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Being the daughter of a military man has shaped my life in ways I never imagined… My dad’s arrival in Mexico as an American soldier was a defining moment in my life.
His discipline was awe-inspiring; from punctuality to commitment, everything he did was infused with a dedication that constantly inspired me.
Through his example, I learned that discipline isn’t just about following rules, but about being consistent in our actions. This lesson has empowered me to face my own challenges with confidence. He always encouraged me to do things to the best of my ability.
Every day, I strive to apply these values in my life, knowing that discipline is the key to achieving my dreams.
Liz, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Born in Texas and raised in Mexico City, I returned to the US at 27, embarking on a transformative journey. Overcoming depression and adopting healthy habits with the support of an online community, I discovered my passion for guiding women through their own paths of redefinition and empowerment.
As a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Nutrition Coach with over a decade of experience in holistic practices, particularly Ayurveda, I’ve spent the last seven years as a virtual Fitness Coach. My approach integrates mindset, nutrition, and fitness to help women redefine themselves and their lives.
Being a mother and wife has deepened my understanding of holistic health. I recognize that true well-being goes beyond dieting, focusing on spiritual and emotional aspects as well. My daily routine reflects this philosophy, incorporating meditation, morning and evening rituals, biohacking practices, and continuous learning through personal development literature.
I’m passionate about organization and productivity, which I apply both in my personal life and in my work with clients. Through the popular app Kickoff, I offer personalized one-on-one coaching. Additionally, I lead an online community, providing workouts, nutrition advice, and unwavering support.
My mission? To help women reclaim their energy, unleash their creativity, and reignite their confidence. I’m dedicated to empowering women to feel vibrant, inspired, and sexy in their own skin!
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
The story of Rule #6, which states “Don’t take yourself too seriously,” comes from the book The Art of Possibility by Benjamin and Rosamund Zander. In this book, the authors recount an anecdote about two prime ministers discussing state affairs.
During their conversation, they are frequently interrupted by anxious aides. Each time this happens, one prime minister reminds the other to “remember Rule #6,” which helps calm the aides down. When the visiting prime minister asks about Rule #6, he learns it simply means “Don’t take yourself so seriously.” The resident prime minister then adds, “There aren’t any other rules.”
This rule highlights the importance of humor and lightness in leadership and personal interactions. It suggests that not taking oneself too seriously can create a more collaborative and open environment. The Zanders emphasize that humor can help move beyond self-centered behavior, fostering deeper connections and creativity in both personal and professional settings.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe that creating a lot of value for my market and having them know, like and trust me through my free content has helped me stay and thrive in business.
