We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Liz Ferron a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Liz, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I realized I have this gift of making people laugh and for articulation. It became clear I should be in show business! I started stand up comedy and that, plus a new degree in broadcasting led to my first morning radio job. The two are the perfect blend for a radio personality to be k factious and entertaining.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I chose a long time ago that if I am going to be employed for most of my life, it should be something that brings me and others joy. I decided that Stand Up Comedy would be a great, expressive form of entertaining and healing. Having been through many fates in life, comedy has become quite cathartic and inspiring not only for me but for those who come out to enjoy the craft. After receiving my degree in broadcasting, I knew that Radio would be my next step. Imagine, getting up in the morning doing a fun radio show and then driving somewhere to get on stage and make a bunch of people in a room laugh. What a way to work! I now do afternoons on 104.7 The Mile in beautiful Vail, CO bringing classic tunes, levity, & community service and classic rock tunes to the locals and visitors alike. Being on radio feels like home to me
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The gift of laughter is the best gift ever.. To hear & see the happiness I bring to others is fantastic! As far as radio, it’s such a pleasure to bring the community together in times of need and joy. Thing in with local musicians, artists, small business owners, venues, and Organizations such as The Vail Valley Foundation, Salvation Army, Vail Valley Partnership and so many more is so rewarding. To see happy children being fed, clothed & educated is one of the most rewarding gifts for us in local in media. The hope & promise in the eyes of the audience is what captures my heart the most.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Continue to support the Arts. Go to shows, tune into the local radio stations, attend community meetings, events & fundraisers. Visit the galleries & outdoor markets. Enjoy all the amazing talents that you are surrounded by. It feeds the soul.

Before she moved to Colorado Liz was in Twin Falls, Idaho. She brought so much joy to her on air listeners, especially in her morning show with Broc. What a dynamic duo! Her comedic genius was most evident when experiencing her perform her stand up comedy. It was utter side splitting hilarity. But her heart, her compassion, and her love for others has always shined in the countless charitable events at which she has created and volunteered. The world is truly a better a place because of Liz Ferron.
