We were lucky to catch up with Liz Faraimo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Liz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
In 2018, my life seemed perfect—a successful career, a loving family, a comfortable home. Although my life looked great on paper, I still felt like something was missing. My heart yearned for something more, something that aligned with my true purpose—to make a significant difference in people’s lives.
Dreaming of owning my business, I envisioned a life of flexibility and the ability to be present for my kids and aging parents. It was this vision that drove me to embark on a venture, leveraging my skills and experiences. My journey into the world of Senior Care was sparked by the struggle to find adequate resources for my parents, unveiling an untapped need in the market.
Launching Care Excellence Team was a leap of faith, a leap that meant forsaking a steady job and the comfort of a guaranteed paycheck. The risk was immense, yet it was a risk I had to take. In September 2018, I made the bold decision to quit my job and dive into my business full-time. The days that followed were full of tears and doubt, questioning my decision to go all in.
But it was this very risk that pushed me into action, igniting a fierce commitment to my business. Networking, marketing, and reaching out to everyone I knew became my daily routine. Just three weeks into this new chapter, I celebrated a significant milestone—the first client.
Fast forward five years, and the risk has paid off manifold. Care Excellence Team has grown, evolved, and become a dependable support for numerous families. Every day, I wake up to a life of purpose, aligned with my values and passions. The leap of faith was hard, but the rewards have been nothing short of extraordinary. This is a life I would risk it all for, a life I eagerly embrace each day—a true testament to the transformative power of taking that leap of faith.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Liz Faraimo—ambitious, powerful, and fiercely passionate about living a purpose-driven life. Five years ago, I made a life-defining decision to break free from a career that no longer fulfilled me and launched Care Excellence Team. It’s a senior living consulting company, aimed at helping families navigate the intricate world of elder care options.
My motivation sprang from a deeply personal place—years spent caring for my father. During that challenging period, I lacked the guidance and support I desperately needed, and this propelled me to ensure others didn’t face the same ordeal. I wanted to create a service that provided families with the right support and knowledge for their unique situations.
Our approach at Care Excellence Team is all about tailored services, understanding the specific care needs and goals of each client. My brand is an extension of my personal caregiving journey, built on compassion, respect, and honesty. What fills me with the utmost pride are the meaningful relationships we’ve nurtured with our clients, who regularly share their family moments with us.
In 2020, fueled by my passion for helping people reach their highest potential, I embarked on my second entrepreneurial journey—launching my High Performance Coaching and Consulting business. This venture was an extension of my personal growth and a testament to the transformative power of coaching.
Working closely with life and business coaches, I immersed myself in a process that allowed me to truly step into my authentic self and overhaul every facet of my life. It was a profound experience that infused in me a deep sense of purpose—to become a Certified Master Coach, particularly focusing on empowering women.
My vision is to help women unleash the most potent version of themselves, enabling them to craft careers that resonate with their passions and lead lives that fill them with excitement each day. Through personalized coaching and strategic guidance, I aspire to play a pivotal role in their journey towards fulfillment and success.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I began my business, I didn’t have all the answers or the resources to figure things out. Creating contracts and strategies for marketing was overwhelming, and I couldn’t afford to hire experts like attorneys or a marketing team. I needed to find people who could help me. With minimal contacts in the Senior Care industry I had to get creative fast!
I went online and found a successful company in Northern California who did exactly what I was trying to do. After researching their reviews and website, I made the call. I shared my admiration for their business and my plans for a similar venture in San Diego. I asked for guidance and boldly requested her to be my mentor. She agreed without hesitation. In just a few days, she shared a sample contract and several marketing ideas and contacts. My resilience to find a solution and think outside the box helped me land a crucial relationship that gave me everything I needed at the time.
This taught me a crucial lesson: in any predicament, there’s always a way, and people out there are eager to help you succeed.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I started using social media for marketing, the nerves were real. My first video made me feel anxious; I wanted to hide. The fear of how I looked and sounded, and what people might say or not say, was overwhelming. At first, the likes and comments were scarce, making me think nobody cared about what I offered. It’s a common experience when you start your business journey on social media.
To overcome these anxieties, I pushed myself to keep going. I began by posting videos on my stories and then transitioned to sharing quotes and messages, encouraging interaction from my viewers. Gradually, I found my comfort zone by focusing on providing value to my audience. Every message I shared was an opportunity to help someone by addressing their challenges. Occasionally, I’d also extend an invitation to work together. By centering my efforts on my audience and the value I could provide, I began attracting clients and gaining new followers through social media.
Remember, you don’t need a huge following to begin—start where you are and keep showing up with a focus and intention to provide value to people!
