We were lucky to catch up with Liz Cox recently and have shared our conversation below.
Liz , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
We always love sending stunning floral arrangements to our clients on milestone moments for them – business anniversaries, their personal birthdays, etc. – to let them know that we see them and celebrate all of who they are, both in business and in life. Our clients bust their butts day in and day out to make their businesses as successful and thriving as possible so being able to help them to take a moment to pause and celebrate how far they’ve come is always really impactful.

Liz , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
With well over a decade of experience in the world of small business, we know full well what it feels like to be burnt out and overwhelmed from spinning your wheels in ways that no longer serve you. We also know from personal experience that sometimes it takes someone else coming in to help lift the fog for you to see that there are ways to work smarter not harder.
At the Refined Business Collective, we empower small business owners like yourself to refine your work rhythms. We help you refine those rhythms through frameworks that are both attainable and life-giving. We offer group coaching, one-on-one coaching, and one-on-one personalized brand management to help our clients feel equipped and supported in their callings.
We love to help lift our clients from the fog of burn out so they can experience the freedom that comes from stewarding their callings well.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Ty was actually my first boss out of college. I started working for her at her bridal boutique in Lexington, Kentucky – Twirl Bridal Boutique – as a part-time bridal stylist and social media manager. Within 6 months, I became the full-time manager of the boutique and then a year later, we opened our a second bridal boutique together as business partners. It was then that we knew that we were an incredible team and we started our consulting + coaching business a few years after working together as business partners. 2024 marks 10 years of working together and 5 years of running our coaching company together! We are business partners and best friends and we truly couldn’t imagine doing life or business without one another.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
We believe so deeply in the idea of community over competition and I think that’s really what’s carried us and built the client base we have. We believe everyone has something to bring to the table and we always want to always conduct our business in such a way that we have a “table” that people feel like they’re happily invited to and wanted at.
