We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Liz Banuelos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Liz below.
Hi Liz, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Back in 2010 as a single mom I was sold a vision, to create a life with financial & time freedom – a life that apparently only the TOP %1 could achieve with hard work and sacrificing everything. Since then, it has been my souls purpose find the vehicle to create the life my heart & soul desired without sacrificing anything. I knew I was meant to live a “different” life. From one Network Marketing company no another I continued to seek my “Success Story”, but I only came across learning experiences.
After healing & continues Inner Work, I realized I already had so many skills: project management, admin skills, customer service, being detail-oriented, a creative eye, I was resourceful, self-driven, I had all the desire to learn & I was passionate for community. I just needed to figure out how to package those skills into something that could actually help others & honestly, pay me. That’s when I discovered the world of Virtual Assistance, and let me tell you, it completely changed my life in just 10 months!!
I started small, offering services to business owners who needed help with tasks that were taking up too much of their time. What began as a way to bring in extra income quickly grew into a consistent business, I’m incredibly passionate about.
Now, I not only get to support amazing Female Entrepreneurs in the Coaching Industry as a Creative Executive Assistant but also mentor other mommas who are ready to take their first step into Virtual Assistance inside SHE GROWS COLLECTIVE with a non-cookie cutter blueprint that adjusts to their skills, their family & their desired lifestyle.
As a mom of 3 with the desire of more & provide for my family, I know how challenging it can feel to navigate opportunities, find support, and juggle responsibilities. My mission is rooted in creating access to tools, community, and confidence so mothers can thrive without sacrificing what matters most to them.
At SGC It’s so much more than becoming a virtual assistant or reigniting the creative fire. This is about reawakening that deep desire for a life filled with MORE. Together, we tap into creativity, skills, talents, hobbies, and the things that bring mommas joy, while leaning on the work ethic they’ve built over the years. This is where together we rediscover what lights us up, own it, and create a life that reflects that fire and pays us, unapologetically!
As moms, we want to stay home, raise our kids but ALSO be able to provide for them.
She Grows Collective is a safe space where moms can dream freely, unapologetically, and without limits. It’s a space where we get to be unconventional, where we can truly be ourselves, not just as a mom, but as US, with motherhood boundaries in place.
This is where moms get to fully & unapologetically step into the Unknown and make it known.
To have the freedom to pick our kids up from school and still contribute financially to our family, this is what fuels our mission & purpose.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Liz, former corporate girlie & side hustle queen, turned Creative Executive Assistant and now Founder of She Grows Collective where we help moms monetize their skills & passions while raising babies.
I believe in surrounding ourselves with woman whom we share the same values, while also embracing what it means to be a woman, a mom, and someone chasing big dreams.
I’ve always had a passion for community, delving into creativity, for organizing in-person events. The thrill of planning and bringing women together in community has been a constant source of inspiration for me. Working closely with Life Coaches & Community Builders for 3 years now, I realized the transformative impact my services have on relieving daily stress and overwhelm for Female Entrepreneurs, allowing them to focus on the bigger picture. I’m a firm believer in the importance of running a life first business, and my mission is to help my clients achieve exactly that.
As a CEA, and I work with 6- and 7-figure Coaches who are ready to expand their team in order to reach new heights, who are building communities and movements bigger than themselves. Many entrepreneurs, especially as female biz owners, we are juggling too much. We’re trying to wear all the hast, content creation, admin tasks, event coordination that only leads to burnout. As a CEA I take tasks off their plate, allowing them to focus on what truly lights their fire. By offering creative and operational support to manage projects, events, and day-to-day operations seamlessly. I am able to do this by capturing their unique brand voice, message & ideal client perspective.
My mission as a CEA is to streamline processes with effective systems and tools for communication, project management, and team collaboration. Keeping tasks and deadlines organized so nothing slips through the cracks.
I also help with Event & Retreat Overload by taking full ownership of event logistics, from planning and vendor recruitment to on-site support, content creation and clean-up. I am passionate for community. I know 1st hand the importance & impact of “getting in the rooms” so my mission is to help create experiences that are memorable, organized, and stress-free for both the host and attendees.
When clients bring me on board it is more than “outsourcing” they are expanding their team with a member who shares the same values and sees their vision clearly as if it was my own. With me they get both a Creative eye & Admin Professional.
It’s been a journey filled with inner work, layer shedding, personal development, reprograming, tapping into my passions & creative fire.
I’m here to tell my fellow mommas that you don’t have to choose between motherhood and a career, between making memories or making money. If you’re like me, driven by big dreams and kept awake by the vision & desire of who you’re meant to become, always searching for ways to create income while raising babies, I want to connect with you because IT IS POSSIBLE, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I used to call myself a multi-passionate creative visionary. lol I had desire to do all the things all the time!
When I first launched my business, I was offering Digital Logo & Business Card designs, this then scaled into offering Branded Graphic Designs, this pivoted into Social Media Management, eventually Virtual Assistance & Mentoring. But before all of this I had already tried 3 different Network Marketing companies.
I don’t want to live with the “what if” I want to know and if it didn’t stick or work then I moved on to the next thing. What’s the worst that can happen? Time is going to pass either way!
I like to say that if you want to grow & evolve as a human being, become an entrepreneur. I believe that when we continue to do the inner work & self-development our business will follow. Because our business is an extension of who we are. Our mindset, values, and energy shape everything, from how we show up to the decisions you make. Then of course our business becomes more aligned.
For me pivots are signs of evolution. Pivoting isn’t about starting over; it’s about evolving as we grow. Each pivot is an intentional step toward building a life & business that align with our higher purpose.
When I pivoted to focus on mentoring Virtual Assistants, it wasn’t because I failed as a Creative Executive Assistant, it was because I grew. My inner work helped me see how I could create more impact by sharing what I’d learned with others.
I believe that our businesses are extensions of ourselves. When we commit to doing the inner work, exploring our values, overcoming fears, and aligning with our purpose, our businesses naturally follow.
Every pivot becomes a step closer to creating something that reflects who we are and the impact we’re here to make. This belief has guided me through my own entrepreneurial journey, and it’s why I’m so passionate about helping mom’s embrace their growth and step into their fullest potential.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been through community & referrals, and I believe this is because of my passion for community itself.
For example, throughout my own journey I have always looked for community, I knew I wanted to be surrounded by women with the same values, mindset and big dreams. I wanted to belong, take up space & use my voice. This gives me Community & Movement insight that my clients need. I’ve met my clients by putting myself in the rooms, while serving other clients. This automatically puts me in the spotlight for my ideal client to see me in my element.
Ultimately, I’ve found that community has always been key. Build GENUINE relationships. Lock arms with other women who are also working on their dreams with passion, fire and drive. I promise you. The rest will fall into place.
