We recently connected with Little Tree And Alchemy and have shared our conversation below.
Little Tree, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Feeling lost and void of a sense of self and direction, is a place artists find themselves often. I find this precipice to be daunting and most turn around and choose to follow a path along the edge before there is some “misfortune,” or unforeseen outside circumstance that pushes you up to and over the edge. I call the other side of this, “Oblivion,” and for me it represents what happens on the other side of the edge before landing, its the in-between the limerence of the old becoming new or taking flight. Being adopted as a baby, “pushed me over the edge,” from outside circumstances and dealt me that hand as a gift called life. I feel like being able to bring together and record a piece of art, with all the different time and threads that you have to weave to bring it out into the world it such a meaningful gift, and my song, “Oblivion,” was the beginning of this for me truly.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Songwriting is hard to label, is it lyrics, music, poetry, arrangement? Or all of the above? I find my origin story most likely starts in 4th grade choir. where my first real understanding of composition and breaking music down into sections and roles. From there piano classes and choir through college, paired with sitting and listening to YouTube type beats for hours and just opening google docs and writing, to doing that with producers and mixologists as well as musicians etc. its all is whatever you want to make it, most importantly just talk to people about it as your interests, and self promote and put your stuff out there and send it to people and on the bad days, just keep going.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I started reading, “The Vortex,” by Abraham Hicks and it opened up my daily routine to higher thinking and more focused intentions.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to show the world that life is beautiful and it can be even more beautiful. We should focus on beauty and art and give it a higher regard in our society. It may allow for more open and meaningful conversation and connection that is much needed.
