We were lucky to catch up with Little Pink Farmhouse recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Little Pink , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Our mission is as simple as our ingredients. Creating toxic free products that you can feel good about using. When we first started making candles, we were shocked at the amount of toxins and ingredients used in some that we were burning in our homes. We were aware of the conscious effort that people were making to live a cleaner lifestyle such as switching their cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, and buying more locally sourced foods. It’s often the little things that get overlooked and candles and perfumes are one of them! Every decision we make about our ingredients we ask ourselves, “Is this as organic and clean as we can get it?” We work with a perfumer that is as dedicated to our mission as we are, our wax is a clean coconut soy blend, and even down to our packaging we only use recycled materials from other businesses that normally would throw it all away! We wanted to build on this mission with the customers always in the front of our minds. We offer a price range for all, we have an online store where we drop ship anywhere in the US, and we work daily to get our products into stores near you. We believe that every person should have access to healthier products! As a woman and family owned company we understand how hard people work every day to be the best that they can be and that life gets stressful. Our candles are designed to help make your house a home. Our perfumes are designed to make you feel your very best self. All while knowing that the ingredients in them are all sourced with your health in mind.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My mom and I started this company with a candle kit and a bottle of wine one night in her kitchen not knowing what it would turn into. Little Pink Farmhouse comes from my great great grandmothers pink farmhouse in Texas. My mom spent a lot of her years as a kid there and has the best memories and we want to be a part of the memories people make their homes. After we found an interest that people had for clean burning candles we launched our online store in March of 2020. In the past 3 years we have learned so much about making our products, what the customers like, and how to do everything more efficiently. My sister in law decided to join our team a year after we launched our online store and has taken this company to a new level. All 3 of us have different personalities and strengths that we bring to the table. The most frequent question I get asked is if it is hard to work with family. I would be lying if I said that we didn’t have our differences but my answer is always “It may be hard sometimes but I couldn’t imagine doing something like this with anyone else.” We build off of each other and we are definitely not afraid to be honest and blunt! From what started as making candles in my moms kitchen to expanding our range of products and expanding our business the way we have is all because of our customers. Why we do what we love, and what some people would call a dream job, is all thanks to everyone who supports us. We never forget that. Our brand is special to us and we hope that y0u feel the same when you try our products.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
We hand pour, label, and box every one of our products in a renovated barn on parents property in Willow Creek, MT! We started from a candle kit that my mom got one Christmas and just thought it would be something fun to do. After more research we started learning more about how to make candles the best way possible. Neither of us had any clue what we were doing that night we made our first candle and we make a huge effort to keep learning all of the new ways we can enhance our products!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
As a 25-year-old you would think I would be great at social media, but that’s not the case. I owe all of the credit for our online presence to my sister in law Morgan. Her creative mind has brought in more followers since she took over than I did the whole time I was running the accounts! My mom, who has owned another business before this one, always tells us that if there is something you’re not good at, find someone who is. Morgan is great at not only keeping our pages pleasing to the eye but finding ways for our followers to really engage with us! I think that has been a huge part in the success that we have had.
