Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lital Diament. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lital, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
When I was an associate, I had a client in a treatment center who was truly struggling with her mental illness. She would yell at me, tell me that she did not like me as a therapist, and constantly share that she had wanted a new clinician. One day, while sitting across from this client, I had asked the client what I could do as her therapist to make her feel more comfortable? I also engaged in the conversation of how she was put in my life to change and vice a versa. This was a turning point for the both of us as she shared with me ways in which I could improve on my therapeutic approach and I, in turn, shared with her what I needed. The healing process continued for the both of us and today, this client is graduating with her Masters in Psychology to be a Marriage & Family Therapist.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I believe that managing a team takes character, strength, and a deep compassion in what you love to do. Being a business owner is more than hiring employees – it is a labor love. Forming a team and maintaining high morale includes psychological safety, in which team members are able to express fear, ask for help in how to adjust to their clients, ask for help and direction, all without fearing embarrassment or shame from their employer. I pride myself on creating a space that allows for vulnerability without the fear of shame. Creating a space in where we can be vulnerable with each other only helps my team take those skills and important psychological characteristics into their own sessions with clients.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Other than training, I believe that being compassionate, open, vulnerable, kind, and intuitive are helpful within the field of psychology. I also believe that lived life experiences are helpful to help connect with out patients. I also believe that in order to be a business professional in this field, cultivating awareness, mentors, and people in which are reliable sources of influence is also helpful.
