Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lisseth Nava. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Lisseth, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I started modeling in 2012, but many family was not supportive including my dad. I stopped pursuing my passion in modeling because of others opinions. Fast forward the ending of 2019 I ended up going through something personal that really shook me to my core. The same thing that broke me gave me the courage to pursue my passions and my dreams, by beginning of 2020 I was back in the industry as a model and an actress. I had always been curious of the acting world, but was never brave enough to pursue it until I did although many of my family are not supportive I am happy pursuing my passions in the industry , I have accomplished quite a bit in the last few years by staying focused and dedicated with consistency and persistency in my dreams. I have loved this journey in the industry. I am grateful for my highs and lows and what is to come.
Lisseth, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am 32 and a mother of two little girls. As a little girl myself around five years old, I would dance in front of my TV to Selena songs and I would tell my parents that one day I would be in TV fast forward when I was in high school I had an agency that wanted to fly me to New York for an opportunity but my mother thought I was too young to be on my owned and rejected it. Since then I had told myself that once I became an adult I was going to pursue my passions and maybe one day I could be on TV. By 2020 I was already working on my first film that could be found on Tubi TV called Dry Places.one booking turned into 5and next thing I knew I was in theaters and on tv. It’s such a satisfying feeling to bring your dreams to life and really get to live with a purpose.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Definitely! A little over three years ago I started as an independent worker, and found all my gigs myself, of course it was all a learning process. At the time I was still fairly new and didn’t want to sign any contract until I was sure 100%. over the ending of last year‘s summer I ended up signing with ICON STUDIOS to allow me to have more resources that I needed and I didn’t have be on my phone so much looking for jobs. Allowing me to spend time with family. I wish I would’ve known everything. I know now, so I could’ve had a head start.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, my mission with my journey is to spread light with my platform. I wanna encourage others to follow their dreams, their passions but with purpose. There are many in the industry that are trying to do the same thing as you are, but I believe that if you have a greater purpose to why you are doing what you’re doing, things will flourish and grow
