Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lisarose Ryan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Lisarose thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Being young and in such a competitive industry can be extremely intimidating and hard to navigate. There are so many levels and ways people describe success. To me, the idea of being successful changes daily and is measured in a variety of ways. Success is taking the stride in what you do to the best you can do it, and then taking that one extra step. Knowing the value in success, to me, means understanding that you will continue to thrive if you trust yourself and build up a team that supports and trusts your vision. Success to me is not measured in physical accolades or benchmarks, it is something that you can determine based on the environment you have cultivated thus far and the successes not only of your own, but of those you contribute to.
One of the first times I truly felt successful was when one of my clients praised not only my work, but my demeanor. Being acknowledged for hard work is a huge part of success, but also being valued as a person and for my work ethic and personability is something I consider a success. Knowing that my clients feel welcomed, trusted, and connected to me is a very valuable thing.
Additionally, I see the success in what projects I contribute to and the teams I work alongside. It is not an effort made solely by myself; working alongside a variety of teams and other passionate, hard-working individuals is another variant of success in itself. Whether it means watching an artist get their #1 single, having a successful album roll out, or completing a live show, I am a contributor to that success, whilst also uplifting and appreciating the work of those who are involved. It is no easy feat to have success, and without the ample support of grounded and ambitious teams, I would not be able to reach the goals I have set.
I take pride in being able to contribute to such amazing and impactful projects throughout the years. I owe a lot of the success I have been granted to the way I was raised and to the experiences I have been exposed to. Being an avid fan and music lover, I have been lucky enough to be immersed in live music constantly and have had a plethora of exposure to different types of music and artists. With that being said, another key element to my success is attributed to the knowledge and passion I have for the field. Being successful is a testament to knowing and loving what you do to a high degree, especially in an industry that is overflowing with talent.
With being successful comes many pressures, the constant fear of having to ALWAYS be successful. I know that my success will prevail, but that there will be highs and lows. Being self-aware of failure and other detriments is important and inevitable; it is how we combat and rise above that will take us to that next level of “success”. Being gracious with yourself is something I am still learning how to do, and I encourage those who are just starting out as entrepreneurs or business owners to take your time and to not be so harsh on yourself! It sounds cliche, but giving grace and love to yourself is a key tool in being successful.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
First off, hi! My name is Lisarose Ryan, I am a 24-year-old born-and-raised New Yorker who loves any and everything that has to do with music, concerts, fandom, and beyond.
I have been working in the music industry for 3 years since the tail end of my undergrad term at Pace University. But before then, I was, and still am, a huge fangirl, and I am not ashamed to flaunt it. Being an avid lover of music has led me to where I am today, from going to concerts with my mom at 13 to still needing to see my favorite artists live, I have taken that passion and applied it where I felt best. I went from working full time during my senior year of college to now starting up my own business and getting my master’s degree at Berklee College of Music, and I take pride in being a driven and well-rounded force in this industry.
Over the last year, I have been developing my professional brand and building up my craft in the industry. It has been difficult for me to dial in on just one facet of the industry, considering I love to contribute and work on a variety of projects. However, my skills lend themselves to the world of digital marketing and artist development.
I am in the process of building a full company around digital marketing, social media, fan engagement, and artist management services. In the last year I have worked fully freelance and built up a roster of over 15+ clientele. I have spent time working mainly with musicians, but recently have also branched out into the Broadway and Film scene, working alongside actors and performers.
We have had the pleasure of working with acts such as previous Nickelodeon icon Victoria Justice, rising pop star Nessa Barrett, and up-and-coming acts like Gunnar and Hayes Warner. Building up social campaigns that have garnered millions of engagement and have grown fanbases of over 40 million and counting!
I am eager to continue to expand and grow throughout the coming years, and look forward to connecting with fellow creatives out there!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
For me, there are always ever-changing goals and initiatives I strive for. Putting hard goals out there can be difficult, but I think for me, every day, I am striving to grow the artists I work alongside. Getting to see a campaign I worked on come to life is always a goal I have, and when it comes to fruition every single time, it is SO fulfilling! I think if I had to pick one goal that I want to achieve, it would be having an artist I manage play at Madison Square Garden. Being able to develop an artist to that level and grow their successes is something I would take so much pride in. However, every achievement I see an artist reach is amazing, no matter how big or small. My creative journey is constantly driven by the passion and drive these artists have and how much work they put in, and allowing me to be a part of that is so rewarding in itself!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I talk with my clients daily! Being in an industry that is heavily involved and is constantly changing and evolving, being very connected with my clients is something I cherish and make a priority in my daily schedule. I also make it very apparent to respect their boundaries as they do for me, I think setting clear expectations with clients is important. Making sure my clients feel seen, valued, and heard in the everyday is a key component to my work ethic and to the loyalty we establish between one another. It can be difficult for some to stay close and connected with clientele; however, maintaining a clear and concise line of communication is key to making sure we are all feeling strong and up to date on all that is going on. Whether it’s weekly meetings, direct messaging, or an email thread, I ensure that everyone feels valued and are being heard.
