Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lisa Ziegerhofer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lisa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
It all started in 2009 summer time July, I was in a studio like setting downtown.Queen street west toronto.
I was going through a hot summer painting. Some new and upcoming ideas, as my wearable line came through to be.
Introduced for the first time in the city and as a new and exciting part of my artistic creations.
This was something I always dreamed of doing and I brought it to life as a new and exciting extension part of my work for my art and upcoming the art world as we know. That item was a pair of Jean’s custom done with the caricature that was painted on the leg. And sold within a week to art buyer from Brazil, who was very interested and excited about having their jeans and wearing them being the first pair I created. So, that feeling of being an artist coming up with a new and old way of painting it a style that is unique that you could wear anywhere. You go was exciting and very fulfilling because. People were wearing work that I did wherever they were so basically it was out there.
Being a creative is somewhat very in sync with being an artist. I couldn’t say I can actually select one from the other because they actually work very much coincide. Beside each other or within each other. Also I prefer both because I utilize my creativity in every single way in every artwork I do and I always have. From the very earlier days of when I painted as a young child through my teen years. I’m also right through dude senior year in high school doing OAC. Art was my final credit grade to go through the next phase. Which I was able to just do after all of that on my own.
When I was going to at the time when I talked about the first jeans, I did design on top of the many works.I have created before that on Canvas, I was at a point where I was in severe dark and deep isolation from a lot of things, not so much in the main light or the main stream..
it’s just how I was at that very moment in time. I’ve always seen myself as someone who did well with myself. And around very selected, very few people. Needless to say, the time of my life that that happened, and that person curated and was interested in that work was very humbling and exciting and a start of a whole new genre of what was to come after in my profession and skilled chosen path of being an artist. I have done jobs as I think about not too much anymore but II had all kinds of unique jobs before I put my work as the forefront of what I wanted to do all the way from doing delivering flyers as a kid to working at an amusement park. Then going even further into doing clerical office work and none of that appealed to me whatsoever. And it never has very happy doing the creative doing the art. And being my own boss. Also, also, it is a very disciplined way to do work because there’s no clock to punch and you have to. Really put forth a schedule and time frame to do work so that you actually do the work. Otherwise you could get carried away in things that are not what you’re supposed to do instead of what’s at hand to be done. So I thought through the question and the conclusions I come up with for this question. Is that it made me realize how lucky and humbling, It is that I do have this skill and this profession of being an artist and how much I Enjoy, I am passionate about all things to do with art , my work ,all the many people, I’ve met through being an artist and still continue to meet through it. They could be famous. They could be just someone down the street. They could be someone who is in my circle of friends. But it’s just always really cool to connect with someone in any way. Even if they don’t know anything about it to give them the mindset or even the influence of the art world also to even be proposed to teach art on a personal tutorial level which I was just recently a year ago. Asked by a young Person
On that, they were intrigued if I could be so kind as to teach them art so they can hone their skills and do what they already know in a way that is, as level to the point where they might even see an affluence that they could maybe, maybe market their own stuff.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, everyone , I was born in the city In toronto where the winter’s are fierce, this is where I’m commencing. My work started as I was a young child. My first little cartoon sketch came to light which was surfer duhe was your basically typical California style dude, with his muscle tee and swim trunks , also his OP surfboard. Ready to go on adventures with his little dog. Op.
From there in my teens, I hands and really started to create a platform and a portfolio of more intuitive and serious work of all different mixed media.canvas ,still Life, portrait, abstract wildlife ,people. it grew and grew and grew, I actually have 2 brands that I am proud to say. I created all on my own and without the help of anybody because it was in a time that the first business I started was. During a very hard and very changing of the world and the world. We know when COVID hit everyone I had a idea to create a little sunshine and suthat’s. I’ll say diverse and challenging times was so much pain and. Dark and damping vibes and moods not to mention. So many who did lose their lives to that. I took the very thing that we were told to wear for protection and to protect others. The medical face masks and I created a special spin on them to enhance wearing them and actually give it a whole different spin. In those times of despair and challenge. So the brand funky bedazzled face masks was born and incubated into a beautiful changing.
Art form that would take the city by storm. take on its own life. It’s just a matter of months. It became something that a lot of people were interested in talking about and wearing on their faces. It was so surreal to me and humbling at the same time to see not only my work every day in different places or in different normal Routines that were essential or just as simple as getting out for a walk and seeing somebody wearing my mask. Was so surreally an amazingly exponential in such a dark time and it stuck that was one of the very grands. I still have to this day. Funky bedazzled could be face masks, it turned into many different custom works. Even I went as far as doing glassware, coffee. Or tumblrs for Tim Hortons, Starbucks robots and all the uniqueness of these different creations have stuck with many people who were more than happy to celebrate and be a part of this creative. Idea and new art that I produced. I am a local artist. I have been painting drawing sketching and honing my skill craft and creative. For over 30 plus years.
Without giving away my age, let’s just say pretty good chunk of my life.
I feel that the other brand I’d like to talk about which is called my wearable artwork. That is done on all different textiles of clothing. Be it jeans, t-shirts, leather. And just this past year, I did custom shoes for a lovely lady who I frequented her jewelry shop because she had some really nice pieces where she worked that I acquired and ended up by. Nevertheless, she had an idea and asked if I could do up a pair of her leather shoes that she was going to wear on a trip with paint and I told her sure why not
and behold she was the first person to own custom work on shoes, another Avenue, I just. Was able to create with her came up with the idea with her. It was all driven by her. I was just happy to do the work and bring out her idea onto those shoes and make it come to life. Which in summing up. This is what I do and love and there isn’t anything that I can’t do which separates me from a lot of other people. I have unique skills when it comes to painting. I can paint from your idea, your creation or your imagination. It’s there is no stopping my work because that’s just it, it’s limitless. To what I can create and I can do from a picture I can do from my mind and I can do from object. Basically, I can work and be tangible in any thing. Or any textile or surface. That’s needed to be painted created or turned into something else
Then I will explain now. Fast forward to this part which is the future and what I’ve have recently working on, which are some amazing projects. Some projects that have involving the artist “Theweeknd” aka “Abel Tesfaye” I have done a trilogy series that I have almost completed of his work over the previous years
and still what he is doing and up-and-coming in his career right now. I have taken to very much interest in painting him in the different phases of his career. Or I should say in the different phases of his different musical attributes, his styles. Also, because he is a fellow Torontonian. We have that in common because we are from the same city so. It’s very exciting to know that the work is from again a local place.
Other paintings, including my most recent, but not to. Mention abstract painting where” the eyes. Tell a story.”
Is the name of the painting
Was seen and liked on one of my social media platforms Instagram by the Drake hotel on Queen street West. They very much like that painting. And it was a very thrilling moment in my career and to be quite honest, I was very Elated and totally thrilled to see that interest. By that hotel because it is one of the very much known hotels in downtown Toronto. So that was quite the accolade for myself. Not to mention the many purchases by many. Are buyers from all different? Genres all over the world of my works closed. Face masks or just general inquiries to attain my work for their wall in their home or in their office or whatever. They would like to have my work. Put, there was someone who framed one of the face masks. They liked it so much. They put it behind glass and it is in their place on a mantle. Framed in glass, there are so many stories to so many different paintings. I have and different interactions that we could literally be here all night talking about. I’m trying to summon up in the most. Plausible and easy way possible to give you all the feeling of where you would like to see and know and feel about my work , my attributes and my very person.

Whatever your heart and creative imagination desires. I will bring that for you to life on any mixed media, Canvas or whatever textile you have in mind, even shoes.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs Are a tricky business.
Where one of the biggest Upsides.
Is the same as one of the biggest downsides who knows the true value an NFT.
It’s still a form of artwork.
That has not yet stood the test of time.
