We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Wimberger recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
The defining moment of my life that ultimately set me on my path to create Neurosculpting was being hit by lightning on my 15th birthday. That traumatic incident led me to a life of seizures which became life-threatening as the years progressed. Western medicine had no answers for me. I was not considered epileptic so I didn’t qualify for any treatments or medications. Eventually, I was diagnosed with a brain stem seizure disorder connected to high states of stress. That set me on my path to study neuroscience to find a solution. The 5-step Neurosculpting meditation process was what I created in order to rewire my nervous system and increase its resilience so that I could heal my own seizure disorder. I broke through the seizures 17 years ago with this process and never had another once since. It’s been my mission to share this power nervous system rewiring with the world.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been sharing the Neurosculpting® brain rewiring process with thousands of people over the last almost two decades. It’s the only meditation form of its kind that uses a strategic neuroplasticity approach in each of its 5 steps. It’s served those who deal with sever trauma to help them rewire their trauma and stress patterns. We’ve had successful case studies with quadriplegics, those with chronic illness, depression, anxiety, and those with unmanaged stress patterns. Neurosculpting helps people take ownership over their nervous system so they can be regulated enough to be their best selves. It’s a fast and efficient process that doesn’t require lots of time. It’s a process for busy people who are motivated to make change. A recent study in the Journal of Yoga, Rehabilitation, and Physical Therapy notes that just one hour of Neurosculpting per week was enough to positively impact sleep, reduce anxiety, and improve heart rate and heart rate variability from pre to post meditation. https://www.auctoresonline.org/article/the-effects-of-neurosculpting-meditation-on-stress-anxiety-and-sleep-on-one-group-of-college-students
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I absolutely would choose the same profession because this work came from my direct experience dealing with my own trauma. It’s the most authentic thing I know and it has the power to change lives. If I chose anything different I’d be doing a great disservice to myself and others.

Can you open up about how you managed the initial funding?
In the business world Neurosculpting® is considered a unicorn. That means we have never had investors. Neurosculpting has been funded entirely out of pocket with the exception of one small business loan taken years ago and long since paid. I retain 100% company control, and fund 100% of the company’s growth because I’ve been clear that in order to spread this work it has to be done with the integrity with which I experienced it. I can not have the decisions for its growth come from a purely economic base. And because I had no money at all when I first started it I relied entirely on my own sweat equity and reinvested every penny I ever made into keeping it afloat. It has become a global practice. I’m proud to say I have 7 books, certified Neurosculpting® facilitators across the US and in Europe, and have students all over the world.
