Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lisa Turner-lewis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Lisa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The “Ah-Ha” Moment
I remember working, cleaning a person’s home when I had just a basic cleaning service. It was a senior’s home when I realized that seniors need to be treated differently from other people because they don’t have the help. They do not have the energy. They don’t have the means. Some of them have disabilities, and others have little to no income that they’re trying to survive on. Some have family members that can assist, and some don’t.
At that moment, everything clicked. Seniors weren’t just another cleaning client—they had unique needs that were being overlooked. Cleaning wasn’t just about making a space look nice; for them, it was about maintaining dignity, safety, and peace of mind. That was when I had my “Ah-Ha” moment.
The Logic: Why I Knew This Would Work
I started researching, and what I found only strengthened my resolve. The senior population is growing at an unprecedented rate, with millions of elderly individuals choosing to age in place rather than move to assisted living facilities. Yet, there was a major gap in services tailored to maintaining their homes in a way that prioritized their unique needs.
Many cleaning services exist, but they often cater to the general public without considering:
Mobility limitations (e.g., avoiding strong scents, rearranging furniture for accessibility)
Emotional attachment to belongings (offering decluttering with compassion, not force)
Fixed incomes (affordable services with donation and sponsorship options)
Loving Impact Senior Assistance isn’t just about cleaning—it’s about providing a service with heart, a helping hand that treats seniors with the respect and care they deserve.
What Excited Me Most
It was the transformation—not just of the spaces, but of the people. The stories of seniors who could breathe easier, families who felt relief, and the knowledge that a simple service could bring such a profound impact. This wasn’t just a business. it was a mission, a calling, and something the community desperately needed.
Loving Impact Senior Assistance was created to fill that gap, and every home we touch is a step toward ensuring that no senior has to feel overwhelmed or forgotten in the very place they call home.

Lisa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
About Me & My Business
My name is Lisa Turner, and I am the founder of Loving Impact Senior Assistance, a nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas. Our mission is to provide compassionate, home cleaning and organization services to seniors who want to age in place but struggle to maintain their homes due to physical, financial, or health limitations.
How I Got Into This Work
I started in the cleaning industry with a basic cleaning service, working with clients of all backgrounds. But everything changed when I cleaned a senior’s home and saw firsthand the unique struggles seniors face—not just with cleaning but with daily living, mobility issues, fixed incomes, and a lack of support. It made me realize that seniors needed a different kind of care—one that wasn’t just about cleaning a space but about creating an environment where they could thrive.
That moment led me to create Loving Impact Senior Assistance, an organization dedicated to helping seniors live safely, comfortably, and with dignity in their own homes.
What We Do & The Problems We Solve
Loving Impact Senior Assistance goes beyond just cleaning—we provide compassionate home assistance tailored to the needs of low-income and disabled seniors who may not have the resources or family support to keep their living spaces safe and functional.
Our services include:
✅ Routine Home Cleaning – Dusting, vacuuming, and general upkeep
✅ Decluttering & Organization – Helping seniors maintain a functional space
✅ Deep Cleaning – Tackling long-term buildup and neglected areas
✅ Providing Essential Cleaning Supplies – Client-based support for those in need
✅ Education & Advocacy – Connecting seniors to additional community resources
What Sets Us Apart
Unlike general cleaning companies, we specialize in senior-focused cleaning with an understanding of:
Mobility challenges (careful cleaning around physical limitations)
Cognitive decline (compassionate decluttering for those with dementia or memory issues)
Fixed incomes (affordable pricing, donations, and sponsorships to help low-income seniors)
Emotional attachments (gentle, patient decluttering to respect sentimental belongings)
Our services are not just about cleanliness—they’re about dignity, safety, and quality of life.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m most proud of the lives we’ve touched. When we clean a senior’s home, it’s not just a service—it’s a fresh start, a breath of relief, and a moment of peace for them. The smiles, the gratitude, and the visible transformation in their stress levels remind me why I do this work every day.
We’ve eased the burden on family caregivers who were overwhelmed with trying to balance their own lives while caring for their elderly loved ones.
What I Want People to Know
We are here for seniors who need help but don’t know where to turn.
We believe in aging with dignity, and that starts with a safe, clean home.
We are not just a cleaning service—we are a community of care, support, and empowerment.
For those who want to support our mission, there are many ways to get involved:
Donate to help sponsor cleaning services for a senior in need.
Volunteer to be part of our impact in the community.
Spread the word so more seniors can get the help they deserve.
At the heart of Loving Impact Senior Assistance is one simple belief: Every senior deserves to live in a clean, safe, and comfortable home, no matter their income, mobility, or circumstances. And we’re here to make that happen.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Funding My Business – Believing in the Vision First
When I started Loving Impact Senior Assistance, I didn’t have investors, grants, or a large financial backing—I had a vision, a purpose, and a deep personal conviction that seniors deserved better.
I funded the business entirely out of pocket because I knew that if I wasn’t willing to take the first step and invest in this mission myself, how could I ask anyone else to believe in it? I saw the need firsthand—seniors struggling to maintain their homes, living in cluttered or unclean spaces simply because they lacked the physical ability, financial resources, or support system to help them.
I couldn’t wait for someone else to fix the problem. I had to be the one to step up, even if it meant doing it alone at first.
Taking the Leap
It wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt, late nights wondering if I was making the right choice, and financial sacrifices along the way. But every time I walked into a senior’s home and saw the relief on their face, every time I finished a deep clean and heard a senior say, “I feel like I can breathe again,” it reminded me why I started.
I knew this was bigger than me—this was about giving seniors dignity, comfort, and peace of mind in their own homes.
The Turning Point
As I continued investing my own money and time, something incredible happened—people started noticing. Friends, family, and even strangers who heard about my work wanted to help. Donations started coming in, volunteers reached out, and soon, it wasn’t just me anymore. I had sparked something bigger than myself.
That’s the power of believing in your vision before anyone else does.
Why It Matters
For anyone starting a business, especially one driven by impact and purpose, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is this: If you’re not willing to take the first leap, you can’t expect others to jump in with you.
I didn’t wait for a perfect financial situation or someone else to validate my idea. I invested in change because I believed in it. And that belief turned into a movement that is now changing lives, one senior at a time.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building My Audience on Social Media – The Power of Consistency
When I started building my social media presence for Loving Impact Senior Assistance, I had no grand strategy, no viral formula—I just had a mission, a story, and a desire to reach people who cared about seniors as much as I did.
The biggest lesson I learned? Just do it.
I posted, I shared, I talked about my work even when it felt like no one was listening. And at first, it seemed that way—some people would follow, some would like a post, and then disappear. Others would scroll past without engaging. But I kept showing up.
What I realized is that people are watching, even when they don’t interact. They might not engage today, but they see you. And when you stay consistent, passionate, and authentic, they will keep watching—until one day, they’re ready to be involved.
How I Grew My Audience
1️⃣ Consistency Over Perfection – I didn’t wait for the perfect post, the best caption, or the most polished content. I focused on sharing my mission and impact regularly.
2️⃣ Being Real – I didn’t try to sound like a corporation. I spoke from the heart—about the seniors we help, the struggles they face, and why this work matters.
3️⃣ Engaging with My Community – I made sure to respond to comments, share stories, and acknowledge those who supported the mission. Social media is a conversation, not just a platform to broadcast.
4️⃣ Using Multiple Platforms – I spread my message across different platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, reaching different audiences who connected with my work in different ways.
5️⃣ Leveraging Word of Mouth – My biggest supporters were the people who believed in the mission. I encouraged them to share our work, tag friends, and help spread the word.
Advice for Those Just Starting
✔ Just start. You don’t need a perfect strategy—just show up and share your story.
✔ Stay consistent. Even when engagement feels low, people are watching.
✔ Focus on connection, not numbers. It’s better to have a small, engaged audience than a big, uninterested one.
✔ Don’t get discouraged. People come and go, but those who are meant to support your work will find their way to you.
At the end of the day, building a social media presence is about impact, not instant success. Keep showing up, keep sharing, and keep believing in your mission because the right people will find you.
