Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lisa Saff Koche. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lisa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share an anecdote or story from your schooling/training that you feel illustrates what the overall experience was like?
The biggest lesson from my training was that traditional medicine did not have all the answers. I always asked why and the answer was “this is just how we do it!”. It initially led to frustration, and then to an insatiable curiosity to learn alternative healing modalities.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
I am an M.D. focusing on functional medicine and natural ways to heal the body. I work with growth minded people to help them ignite the full power of their mind and body! My goal is to meet you where you are and help you get from healing to the performance realms! I am always discovering new modalities and incorporating cutting-edge technologies into my practice to provide my patients with the best and latest research on healing and optimal performance. In my signature program we address the 11 pillars of health in depth, so you can first learn and heal things like your gut, thyroid/hormones, adrenals, infections and stress, and once we have those under control, we start the exciting journey to next level performance. In the performance realm we learn about atlas orthogonal work, toxins, mindset, mitochondrial optimization, cellular support with peptides and stem cell activation, and energy systems. Also, throughout this entire process, I work with patients to get them connecting to themselves, to others, and to nature, as it is this process that gets people to achieve levels of growth and healing that they only dreamed were possible!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My journey includes story after story of how the universe provided a challenge (I call them gifts) and how I had to learn new modalities and meet new healers. It all began at the age of 15 when I was diagnosed with childhood leukemia despite feeling totally fine. Most recently, I had a lot of stress physically and emotionally and went into extreme heart failure. I had a history of cardiac issues from chemo when I was 20, but things had been stable for a long time. It was so bad that the heart transplant doctor wanted me on the list for a new heart. My cardiologist fought for a special type of pacemaker and I am standing here today almost completely healed with an incredible combination of stem cell therapies, supplements, mindset, trauma healing and more!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The main lesson I had to unlearn and am still unlearning has to do with what I call the people pleaser accomodator energy. I have always been empathic and a healer. I would consciously and subconsciously clear others energy for them at the expense of my own for my entire life. Learning about sovereignty and releasing codependent behaviors has probably been one of my biggest healing lessons and is ongoing today.
