We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lisa Richmeier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
There was a defining moment in my life that created my career.
Ever since I was 16, I was inspiring and encouraging others to live their best life and reach for the stars. I have been told so often that I was the one that changed so many people’s lives, sometimes even after just one conversation, that I started taking notice of how often this was happening and how much I enjoyed it. It gave me so much satisfaction and I felt so good knowing that I had that effect on people.
I have a background in HR and Recruitment and started looking into careers where I could coach people to live their dreams. I learned of a Dream Coach Program and I signed up for it immediately. I went through the certification and lived each training module as it was being taught, defined my dreams, got through all of the rough stuff (your doubter, your fear) and I stepped into a new life. I left my job, and a man that although I loved, had little respect for me and I stepped into a new life, defined by me, on my terms.
Now I work with people as a coach and help them get out of feeling “lost” and take them through the steps that it takes to change their lives with confidence and purpose.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I currently coach men who are upside down emotionally after a divorce. I work with them on getting clarity around who they are, what matters most to them, what they desire in life, and the strategies they need to embrace, to live a life that gets them excited to wake up in the morning.
I am most proud of the fact that I’ve developed a step by step program to walk through with these gentlemen and it works. I can take someone from feeling lost, to opening their mind to all of the possibilities and excitement, and on a path for where they are headed, in the first 2-4 weeks.
My coaching is genuine, real, honest and effective. I approach everything I do with love and offer a safe, supportive outlet for them to show up as who they are and vulnerable with no judgment. They excel working with me because of all of these things and they get further faster.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Being effective with the people I have coached brings me referrals. Sharing content on LinkedIn about what my clients are going through and how I work with them resonates with a lot of people. Learning how to tailor my messaging specific to my audience is super important. I just went through my branding and am working to revise my website and social media to reflect all of that. I would say LinkedIn is my platform for building awareness and growing my business. My network is very large and my target audience sits within my network, so that is a blessing.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Care about your people. Show interest in them. Know about their life and take the time to let them know that you value them and that they are important. Praise them often in pubic and give them constructive feedback in private. Lead with love in all that you do and you can’t go wrong.
