We recently connected with Lisa Pezik and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
“You never spoke about agencies being a good thing. Why would we call ourselves that?” I said to my husband as we were brainstorming how to describe what we do and he was retelling me stories of how he started working in agencies right after college.
Yes, at Infinite Design House, we use the model of an agency with multiple team members such as strategists, copywriters, graphic designers, coders, social media managers, and ads managers, yet we run our company very differently.
“Well why don’t we call ourselves the anti-agency!” It stuck and we rolled with it. Most agencies charge astronomical fees, follow the same system with every client, are low touch always having the client dealing with a project manager, and focus on quantity.
As a husband-and-wife team, we run a family business that focuses on quality. We value relationships. We are the constant, meeting with clients weekly to biweekly to monthly, taking extra time to really get to know where they see themselves and their businesses in the next 5-10 years and coming up with a proposal and work plan that matches it.
Our clients often say two of my favourite phrases, “It was like you were in my head!” And “You ask me questions that no one else has ever asked me before.”
What makes our process so different is that we spend the first 40 hours reviewing content, having conversations, and pulling out the content and marketing gold that helps our clients become experts in their field. Most agencies don’t have the time or the manpower to do that kind of work and we feel like it’s our secret sauce. We pride ourselves on a deep understanding and a deep level of respect when you choose us as your team.
Just like we committed to honestly, loyalty, respect, patience, and understanding in our marriage, Eric and I operate from the same principles in how we run our company and our team.
I often see people asking for recommendations on social media for someone to help implement and market their courses, memberships, coaching programs, websites, funnels, socials, and they say, “But no agencies please!” We’re on a mission to right the ship and show that agencies can lead from their heart.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
At Infinite Design House, we are a done-for- you content creation, digital marketing, and lead generation one-stop shop for established and successful businesses in the health, medical, wellness, coaching and leadership space, making our clients the go-to experts so they can grow and scale.
We do all the things you don’t know how to do or don’t want to do because its not your zone of genius. Too many people are spending too much time trying to figure it out on their own.
My husband went to school for graphic design and website development and has evolved into more of branding business strategy and tech side. I went to school and worked for many years as a Registered Nurse. I re-invented myself over the course of a decade as a messaging strategist, studying from the best such as Brendon Burchard, Bo Eason, Marie Forleo, Roger Love, Scott Olford, Traffic and Funnels, Jeff Walker, Amy Porterfield, and Stu McLaren.
My unique skill set of helping clients describe what they do and sell it, makes us a winning combo. We are very different people, with very different strengths and personalities, and that’s truly why I believe we have the success that we do.
We don’t try to be like anyone else and we don’t build brands or businesses for our clients like everyone else. I love pulling out what makes each client unique with each product and service (and it’s usually not what clients think) and Eric has a keen eye on making the brand beautiful, functional, cutting edge, and simply just make sense.
We are most proud of bringing our 9 year- old around the world with us as we travel to speak at conferences, go to masterminds, and take vacations. We practice what we preach and hiring a team to help us carry out our mission has freed us up to do what we love in our company. Being mom and dad, after both coming from very little support, is the most important thing to us. When we say family business, we really mean it!
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I love sharing how my husband and I met because having portable roots are what shaped our company today. When I was 24, my close friend invited me to go on vacation to the Dominican with her. At first I said no, because I was working as an RN, trying to make as much money as I could, taking every shift I could, wanting to pay off my student loans and living in Pennsylvania.
My husband was 29, born and raised and living in Canada, and his close friend asked him to go on the trip to Dominican with his girlfriend and her sister. Eric agreed under one condition, his friend and his girlfriend wouldn’t break up on the trip because it would ruin the whole experience. Eric didn’t want to go because he had a feeling his buddy and girlfriend were headed for disaster. Sure enough as soon as they landed his friend’s girlfriend broke up with him.
That night they were having drinks at the lobby bar, his friend drowning his sorrows, and my airport transportation dropped my girlfriends and I off to start our vacation. Eric describes that he felt a force hit him and as he turned around he saw me. He nudged his friend and said, “I have to go talk to that woman.” His friend discouraged him saying it would seem creepy and to look for me later on the resort.
The next day, after searching all day, he found me at the disco. We danced, talked, got to know each other, and after the trip started a long distance relationships for almost a year until I decided to move to Canada and start our life together. We got engaged after four months of dating which our families thought were crazy, yet back in the early 2000, there was no zoom, or skype or Face time. All we could do in between long-distance visits was talk on the phone for hours. We got to know each other so deeply. Deeper and quicker than I’d ever experienced before. It wasn’t just a holiday romance; it was divine intervention and whatever you believe in up above looking out for us.
We never let time, distance, or the unknown stop us. Our love is so much bigger than excuses and obstacles and I feel that most companies’ visions are the same.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is like a really juicy magazine that you love to read. It’s not singular in it’s content, just like we aren’t one dimensional in our lives either.
It’s important to show what you do in business, but also who you are as a person. We love to share our travels, how we parent, our interests (I’m into acting on the side and doing martial arts. Eric is an avid golfer.) We show our pets and home renovation, in addition to client work, business building tips, and making offers to work with us.
We also go live daily. This isn’t a necessity but I always laugh when I think about the term Facebook. They made it “face” for a reason. Audiences want to see your face! They want to see your real face! Not a highly touched up, edited highlight reel of your life.
Most days when Eric and I go live, we’re in sweats or just after school drop off, or a workout. I don’t spend hours making myself look perfect. Perfect is boring!
Even if your brand is corporate and professional, it’s nice to see a video or photo of you outside of the office or boardroom being human. Our quirks and interests are what unite us and tell the story of our company or business.
There is a reason in Preschool that it’s SHOW and TELL. Show comes first!
