We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Marvin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I have to say, I am one of the lucky artists out there. I am content with my current success. Before Covid started, I owned a spiritual wellness centre, and was successful in my career path. During Covid, I was stuck at home, much like everyone else, and saw this really cool artwork online. I dabbled as a portrait artist for many years, but I had never tried fluid art before. I was immediately obsessed with trying to achieve the illustrious Sheleeart Bloom. It just so happened, that Covid provided the time for me to dedicate hundreds of hours to it, which you need to be successful in this process!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Even though this career path may seem different than what I have done for decades before, I have found a similarity. I have realized that what I provide now: inspiring and trying to help people achieve their goals, is just a different version of what I had done before as a therapist and spiritual teacher. I love the amazing people I have met and lifelong friends I have made, through this seemingly accidental twist of fate!
How did you build your audience on social media?
One of the biggest things I tell people who are on the fence about creating a channel, or social media page, is just do it! I really regret the first 2 years of my YouTube, only posting things rarely and only if I thought it was amazing. I was really hard on myself, and am still learning that we are our own worst critic, and if you just be yourself, in your creative zone, people will naturally gravitate towards you!
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
If I have one more scammer ask me to sell my work as NFT’s, I will lose it! In my circles, it is mostly scammers writing these unsuspecting artists who don’t really know any better, and it’s becoming a problem. I have done my best to spread the word to save people headaches. I can’t really speak for legitimate NFTS though!
