We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Marie Schalk recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lisa Marie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I was about 4 years old. I started dancing ballet and knew that I wanna peruse a career as dancer, singer, acter and performing artist also designing and painting was part of it as I started those crafts as well. I just knew it and followed my passion
Lisa Marie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began dancing ballet at the age of four, and by seven, I had picked up the violin, two disciplines that taught me discipline, grace, and the power of expression from an early age. My passion for the performing arts led me to study singing, dancing, and acting at the Vienna Conservatory, where I later graduated with distinction at the Raimund Theater in Vienna, Austria.
In addition to performing, I pursued my love for beauty and transformation by becoming a licensed professional hair and makeup artist and stylist. My journey has since expanded into fashion modeling and design, worlds where I feel truly alive and creatively free. I love working with people, telling stories through every medium I touch, and expressing the many layers of who I am. Honestly, I often say it feels like I’ve lived ten lives.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked across countless shows, productions, and creative spaces. These experiences have shaped me, humbled me, and taught me that struggle is often the foundation for growth. In the world of art, there’s a long phase of character-building that no one really talks about, but it’s what defines you.
My personal motto is: Keep on shining. No matter what job you’re doing, approach it with excellence. Treat every moment, every role, every opportunity with the same care and intention as if it were haute couture. Everything unfolds in its perfect time and space. I truly believe in always choosing to see the good, even when it’s hard. It saddens me to see so many people trapped in negativity, unable to unlock their full potential simply because of their mindset.
I want to be a source of light, to inspire people with the stories I’ve lived and the lessons I’ve learned. I’m deeply grateful for my journey, and excited for all the beautiful things still to come. When you create with love, the light shines through..
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes, I absolutely adore Diana Vreeland. She was the first editor from Bazaar and Vouge Magazine. She’s very inspiring to me.
I so love the documentary about her.
Some of her quotes are so great.
“THE EYE HAS TO TRAVEL”
“THE ONLY REAL
ELEGANCE IS IN THE MIND;
IF YOU’VE GOT THAT, THE REST REALLY COMES FROM IT.”
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There have been many moments in my journey where I was close to giving up. That’s the truth those moments are real, and they happen to all of us. It’s not always glamorous; sometimes it’s lonely, frustrating, and exhausting. But every time I found myself in that space, I would take a deep breath, remind myself why I started, and just keep going, step by step, even if it was slow.
There was one time in particular when I had just finished a demanding show, and despite giving it everything I had, things didn’t unfold the way I had hoped. I felt drained, disappointed, and unsure if I even wanted to continue. But I chose to show up the next day, no matter how heavy it felt. I did my work with love and excellence, even though my heart was tired.
And just like that boom—the next blessing came. Out of nowhere, a new opportunity landed in my lap, one I could’ve never seen coming if I had walked away too soon. That moment taught me that resilience isn’t always about fighting hard, it’s about trusting the process, keeping your heart open, and staying ready for the beauty that’s just around the corner. There is always light ahead, even if you can’t see it yet.
