We recently connected with Lisa Lane and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Lisa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I came up with the idea for the Rinseroo while I was standing in my shower. It was literally an “ah-ha” moment. I was at the Jersey shore with my extended family. There were 15 of us in all plus 4 dogs staying in this beach house. I found that I was filling a bucket over and over to clean the shower walls and bathe the dogs. It was messy and time consuming and I found myself spending more time in my bathroom cleaning than on the beach! I thought, “There has got to be a better way!” I thought to myself, whoever can come up with a quick and easy way to attach a hose to a shower will have a real problem solving invention on their hands. Then I thought…Why not me?

The more I researched, the more I realized that my idea had mass-market appeal. Potentially anyone with a shower or dog might find a use for one. Certainly no one likes cleaning their shower or dog with a bucket.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am Lisa Lane I had a career in pharmaceutical sales but it was an ah-ha moment in my shower that changed the trajectory of my career. When I realized that I had a great, product idea in my head, I worked nights and weekends to make it happen. Eventually, I was able to quit the job that I had to pursue my invention, the Rinseroo, full time. I have since hired my son to work for me full time and together, we are building the business.

We will do close to 3 million in sales this year, our third year in business and we are currently at work scaling the business. We are going from having a “product” to developing a brand. We have several new line extensions in the bath and cleaning space that we will be launching this year.

I think what sets us and our product apart is the fact that we invented something that is truly a problem solver, a time saver and does’t make a mess. Who doesn’t love that? If anyone has ever tried to bathe a dog or clean a shower with a bucket, they will know how appealing a Rinseroo truly is.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

My patent attorney is also one of my best friends from college. Her name is Carolyn Favorito, ESQ. We met our freshman year of college at the University of Delaware and we have remained friends ever since. She was the one who believed in my product idea and really encouraged me to pursue it. She told me that she thought that it was patentable and she fought for me to get my first utility patent. Since then I have gotten two additional patents and have several more in the works thanks to her. She was truly a motivator.

How did you build your audience on social media?

The Rinseroo has really become quite the sensation on social media. It has gone viral several times and it really had nothing to do with our efforts. It just so happened that a cleaning influencer bought one and pasted about it on her TIkTok page. It went viral with our our knowing it until we ran out of stock on Amazon. I think that we were selling one per minute at one point. We ended up having to ship them ourselves to keep up with the orders and we recruited friends and family to help fill the orders. We worked late into the night and weekends until the viral sensation finally toned down. It literally went on for a month or so. It was hard work but lots of fun!

We also post on our social media ourselves and we have been lucky to have had millions of views. It’s funny. You never quite know what will appeal to the masses but when it hits, we are now ready~!
