We recently connected with Lisa Huber and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I think the best thing my parents did in raising me was to make sure whatever I was doing, I was trying my best. The value of this is, regardless of the success or failures I encounter in life, I know I was giving it everything I could!

Lisa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got my license to become a mortgage lender when I hit some bumps in the road with my former career as a hairstylist. I had to have 2 shoulder surgeries and knew that while this would be a huge change, it would give me the chance to work from home and become a foster parent. It was something I had wanted to do for years so I decided to give up everything familar to fulfill the dream of non-traditional parenthood. Doing mortgages allows the flexibity necessary to be able to care for a kiddo and a career. I have a very strong philosy of ‘helping over hustling’ people. I believe the best way to help people is to guide them through the home buying process through relationship, communication and resources.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I think I always had the mindset of money. If you have money, you’re a success and that’s the totality of it. The sum of success isn’t your bank account. When you aren’t following your dream or your heart, money doesn’t have the power you think it should. Transitioning into a new career or business can be so uncomfortable and scary, but being proud of yourself and your own bravery is an incredible new foundation to build your new life on. Head held high!

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
My closest friend in the business Heidi Kuker, a fantastic real estate agent at Compass, and myself started our own networking group based on relationships of accountability. Having this incredible group of women together to support each other in our first years of business has been essential to growth. I encourage anyone in their first years of business to make sure they have a close community of friends to support them throught the infinite challenges of starting a new career path and building clientele. Starting your own networking group is a great place to start! We have such a great need for authentic connection in this life. Bringing people together begets more positivity and support!
