We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lisa Hansen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
My sister is a 2 time breast cancer survivor and when she had to buy medical skin care it was so expensive. I wanted my products to be all natural with no chemical, or little at all. My products work extremely well for cancer and deep skin issues and because I work out of my home I’m able to keep prices at at affordable rate. The products I make are all natural soaps, liquid soap, creams, deodorants, salt scrubs, bath bombs, and lip balms. These products help cancer patients and people with skin issues like eczema and psoriasis.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Bumpandfuzzies was created to provide people with all natural soaps, bath bombs, salt scrubs, lip balm, creams, and deodorants. I also make gel candles, wax candles, to add to the great gift inventory! Bumpandfuzzies has been in business since 2011 and all of the products are handmade by the owner. All of the bath and body products are all natural and free of chemicals which makes them perfect for those sensitive skin, allergies, psoriasis, eczema as well as those who have cancer or are recovering from cancer. I love making my products – it’s my passion. You can find my products displayed at various events in and around Wilmington/Leland and I am also available for in-home parties and showings as well. www.bumpandfuzzies.comships all over the USA!
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Bumpandfuzzies was a side hustle for a while. It was a way for me to make extra money since I was a single mom. I loved doing it so much I kept building on it and having new ideas to expand it year after year. I started out doing events in the area and paying for a spot, then I started doing farmers markets. Anywhere I could afford to get in, and eventually opened my website, I advertise it any chance I get. I have designed this business from the ground up, all the way to the labels. I have created everything from labels to the logo to the website.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped build my reputation was repeat customers and making sure they always had a way to reach me. I also supply returning customers with coupons as well to get them to return. I also offer feedback straight from the website. Everything the customer sees at a event, it can be purchased online at website.
