Hi Lisa, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Starting a business is never an easy feat but witnessing firsthand how much of a positive impact scholarship hunting had on my daughter’s academic journey, I was inspired to help other families achieve the same success. Through years of research and countless trials, I developed a comprehensive formula for success that includes strategies for building a scholarship portfolio, researching potential scholarships, crafting compelling essays, and preparing for scholarship interviews.
What sets my scholarship business apart is my hands-on approach. I work closely with each family to support a personalized plan of action and guide them through the steps of preparing a winning application. I understand that every student has unique strengths and challenges, and I tailor my approach to each family’s needs.
Whether we’re identifying potential scholarships or reviewing essays, I am dedicated to providing the highest level of support to my clients. I am always available to answer questions, offer feedback, and provide guidance to ensure that my clients feel confident and prepared throughout the scholarship process.
Since launching my business in January 2023, I have had the privilege of working with families from all over the country. The positive feedback I’ve received is a testament to the effectiveness of my formula for success and my hands-on approach.

As a wife, mother, and retired public school administrator, I have developed a strong sense of who I am and what I stand for. I am a person who values family, education, and hard work. These values have driven me throughout my career and have led me to my current role as a scholarship consultant.
One of the key aspects of who I am is my trustworthiness. I am a person who stands behind my word and always tries to do what is best for those around me. This trait is especially important in my work as a scholarship consultant, where families need someone they can trust to guide them through the often complicated and overwhelming scholarship process.
Another important part of my identity is my passion for helping families achieve success in locating, applying for, and winning scholarships. I believe that every student deserves access to higher education, regardless of their background or financial situation. Through my work, I strive to provide families with the tools and resources they need to make their educational dreams a reality.
To that end, I charge a small fee for a consultation, during which I provide families with personalized advice and guidance on their scholarship search. In addition, I offer a subscription service that provides access to our Scholarship Formula for Success, a proven system that has helped my personal child win over $70K as of April 2023.
Ultimately, who I am is someone who is dedicated to helping others succeed. Whether it’s through my work as a wife, mother, or retired public school administrator, or through my current role as a scholarship consultant, I am committed to making a positive impact on the world around me.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
As a scholarship consultant, I have found that the best source of new clients is the power of word of mouth. Every client I currently have is because of a current client sharing my information, and this is a testament to the importance of personal referrals and recommendations in the world of business.
Word of mouth is a powerful tool because it is based on trust and personal connections. When someone recommends a service or business to a friend or family member, they are putting their own reputation on the line. This means that the recommendation is not taken lightly, and the person receiving the recommendation is more likely to trust it because it comes from someone they know and respect.
In my experience, word of mouth has been the most effective way to attract new clients. This is because people are more likely to trust the recommendation of a friend or family member than they are to trust a marketing campaign or advertisement. When someone is looking for a scholarship consultant, they often turn to their personal network for recommendations, and if someone they know and trust has had a positive experience with me, they are more likely to choose me as their consultant.
From a technical standpoint, word of mouth can be viewed as a form of viral marketing. It relies on the power of social networks to amplify a message and reach a wider audience. Each person who receives a recommendation becomes a potential advocate for the service and can share their positive experience with others in their own network. By leveraging the power of social networks and personal recommendations, businesses can tap into the viral potential of word of mouth to reach a wider audience and grow their customer base.

This means that I can focus my marketing efforts on providing excellent service to my current clients, knowing that they will in turn help me attract new clients through their positive recommendations.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My social media journey began with creating accounts on Facebook and Instagram. These platforms allowed me to share updates about my services, post helpful tips and tools for scholarship hunting, and engage with my audience through comments and direct messages. I quickly realized that consistency and quality were key to building a following, so I made sure to post often and provide value to my followers with each post.
One of the most important lessons I learned along the way is the power of engagement. Social media is a two-way conversation, and by engaging with my followers through comments and direct messages I was able to build a stronger connection with my audience.
For those just starting to build their social media presence, my advice would be to focus on providing value to your audience. Share helpful tips and tools related to your industry or niche and engage with your followers in a genuine and authentic way. Consistency is key, so make sure to post regularly and engage with your followers. Finally, don’t be afraid to experiment with different types of content and platforms to find what works best for you and your audience.
