We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Forgan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so one thing we think people don’t talk about nearly enough is investments – either time or money. What’s one of the best or worst investments you’ve made and what did you learned from the experience?
I think the best investments would be into my husband’s and my education and well-being. These two tasks are important for us to bring the highest return within our business. By prioritizing the time for educating and health, it provides us the ability to exercise our mind and body so we can produce great returns. In order for us to provide healthy healing and beauty to our clients, we must be able to take care of ourselves too.
My husband and I invest in a lot of educational, coaching, and training programs. The time in these programs and trainings affects how we can invest within our business by providing new ways of care and treatments for our clients. Our investments gives us confidence to maintain our current clients as well as finding new ways to reach to potential future clients.
The training, our education and wellness has allowed us to continuously flow and move when there were changes in the economy.

Lisa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I think the biggest lesson that I had to unlearn was being treated as if I was unworthy and unvalued. I had worked for a company where the environment was toxic and gaslighting was a common practice. Gaslighting does take a toll over the mind and body over prolong exposure. Overtime, you begin to believe in how you are treated and what is said about you.
It is sad that many corporate companies treat their employees with disrespect and many employees do not know they have become victims of this learned mentality until its too late. It takes a lot of skills, coping, support system and perseverance to overcome the feelings of being devalued.
As of today, I learned my value and worth. I work within my boundaries and know that I have choices; good or bad, they are mine to choose from.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Being resilient is not only about strength but on how you recharge and recover. There are lots of ways in life that tries to breakdown one’s resilience and lead to burnout, such as overwork, poor sleep, overstimulation, etc. Resilience can also come from the methods and techniques of battle trauma, changing habits, and dealing with mental health issues. Most of all resilience requires wisdom, courage, faith into your future, and willpower.
There is one quote about being like water from Bruce Lee that I follow. It has helped me be a chameleon, to change and flow, in those tough times:
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.”
No matter how a situation looks, no matter how tough things are, just remember there is always a way. I also hold the quote from Patrick Overtone closely:
“When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take the first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe that one of the two things will happen: There will be something solid for you to stand upon, or you will be taught how to fly.”
I always go back to those two quotes for when I’m in a challenging time. It remind me to recharge and find gratitude in life.
