We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Cheney recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lisa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Honestly, I never imagined I’d be here. I was fully invested in my role as a hospice executive and found a lot of meaning in that work. Aesthetics was not even on my radar. But about ten years ago, my best friend Heather, who has always seen potential in me before I could see it myself, challenged me to try something new. She said, “You should do Botox. You’d be amazing at it.”
At first, I brushed it off. But something about the idea stuck. A few months later, I signed up for a two-day foundational Botox training course. I went in curious and a little nervous, but came out inspired. It lit a spark I didn’t expect. I loved the blend of art and science, the precision, and most of all, the immediate confidence boost it gave people.
But going from training to launching a business was a journey. I didn’t just want to do it part time, I wanted to do it right. So, I started investing in advanced courses, shadowing experienced injectors, studying facial anatomy, and learning the business side of aesthetics. I did all this while still working full-time in hospice leadership, being a wife and raising my kids, squeezing in trainings and clients wherever I could.
The next big leap was setting up the business. I had to figure out everything from finding a medical director, to setting up proper documentation and protocols, to choosing products, securing malpractice insurance, building a brand, and learning how to market in an ethical, authentic way. I spent late nights researching legal and regulatory requirements in Arizona, creating intake forms, and designing a logo that felt personal and professional.
Then came my first client. That moment made it all feel real. And from there, Youthful You Aesthetics slowly but steadily grew through word of mouth, referrals, and a lot of care poured into every single patient interaction.
This business started with a nudge from a friend, grew through sheer determination and education, and continues to thrive today because of a deep belief that aesthetic medicine can be both clinical and compassionate. Every step from idea to execution has been a learning experience, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi! I’m Lisa Cheney, the founder and owner of Youthful You Aesthetics in Peoria, Arizona. I’m a Registered Nurse with a background in hospice and executive leadership, and now a Nurse Practitioner student with a passion for helping people look and feel their best, inside and out.
My journey into aesthetics was completely unexpected. For years, I was deeply rooted in hospice care, serving as an executive in end-of-life care. This career taught me immeasurable lessons about empathy, presence, and what truly matters in life. About a decade ago, my best friend Heather encouraged me to explore aesthetic medicine. She saw something in me I didn’t yet see in myself. That one nudge led me to a Botox certification course, and it changed everything. I quickly realized I could combine my clinical skills, artistic eye, and compassionate approach to help people build confidence and feel empowered in their own skin.
At Youthful You Aesthetics, we specialize in natural, injectable treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers, lip enhancements, and facial balancing. But what truly sets us apart isn’t just the services we offer, it’s the experience we create.
We focus on personalized care, education, and transparency. Every client who walks through our door is treated like family. We spend time getting to know you, your goals, and your concerns. Whether you’re a first-timer nervous about injectables or someone seeking subtle refinement, our goal is always the same: to enhance your natural beauty without changing who you are.
We also prioritize safety and continued education. The aesthetics industry is constantly evolving, and I believe staying at the forefront of technique and anatomy is non-negotiable. I regularly invest in advanced training to ensure our clients receive the highest standard of care.
What problems do we solve? Many of our clients come to us because they’re tired of looking tired. They want to soften lines, restore volume, or simply feel more refreshed when they look in the mirror. We help bridge the gap between how they feel on the inside and what they see on the outside, without making them feel “overdone.”
What makes me most proud is the trust our clients place in us. Some have followed me from the very beginning. We’ve built a loyal community not just because of great results, but because of the honesty, heart, and human connection behind our work.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about Youthful You Aesthetics, it’s this: we’re not about trends, we’re about timeless confidence. We’re here to help you feel empowered, radiant, and your best self.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the most significant pivots in my life has been returning to school to become a Nurse Practitioner while continuing to run Youthful You Aesthetics. Going back to school after years in leadership and clinical practice was a major decision. It forced me to re-evaluate how I balance everything: family, business, and personal growth.
As my NP program ramped up, I quickly realized I couldn’t do everything myself the way I used to. I had to step back from being involved in every little detail of the business and start leaning more on my team, and that was both humbling and empowering. I had built a strong foundation, but now it was time to trust others to help carry the vision forward.
This pivot required me to shift from being the “doer” of all things to being more of a mentor and delegator. I had to refine workflows, build clear protocols, and empower my staff to make decisions in alignment with our values. I invested more time in training, check-ins, and creating systems that allowed them to work confidently and independently, even when I was away in clinicals or studying late into the night.
What I learned is that letting go doesn’t mean losing control, it means building trust. And because of that pivot, our business didn’t just survive, it continued to thrive. Clients still felt cared for, my team grew more confident, and I was able to pour into my education knowing that Youthful You was in good hands.
This season of life has stretched me in the best ways. It’s shown me that growth, whether personal or professional, requires support, humility, and the courage to let others rise beside you.
