We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lionel Seeram. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lionel below.
Alright, Lionel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I always knew since I was Young kid I Could Sell anything. From chocolate bars at elementary school to lemonade in front on my moms House. I had a passion for making people happy and providing Something that would give People Something to look Forward too. But my Greatest sell was putting myself out there first. Once people understood me first as a person it made it easier for a sell. When people can relate in certain ways it shows a feeling of comfort. By 9 years old somehow I fell in Love with the barbershop when I use to watch other barbers cut hair I told myself i could do the same thing. After so many countless messed up Haircuts I asked my mother to buy me some liners so I could start lining my own Hair! Of course being a strict Rule Mother she told me No! But I didn’t give up by Christmas I asked my Auntie if she could buy me some liners for Christmas. And she Did! I was super excited to use them finally. And by years old I was cutting and lining my own hair. It wasn’t until high school I actually applied myself started Lining others up at school! While others students were skipping class going to the gym locker Room to shoot Dice I was skipping class cutting hair in the boys locker Room. I knew I wasn’t Tough and real Street like my peers but I wanted to show them I was a hustler too. N which i got my respect for being myself and not following the crowd, I took a different route at a early age. And because of my actions back then knowing at a young age don’t follow the crowd but observe and learn from the crowd. After High school I went straight to barber school instead of College like my peers who didn’t know what they were doing with their life still. I knew what I wanted to do I didn’t want to waste my mothers money going to College when in my heart I knew school wasn’t for me purely. But choosing barber school was the best decision I could of made for myself. Now 10 years into the barber industry I love every Bit of it. Yes challenges came but I took them and put my Head Down. Now 10 years I feel I needed to be doing more with my Life still barbering can feel like a desk job too! Your behind a barber chair 10 hours a day and on Saturdays! Your life is definitely evolved around the chair after that! And I needed to change my lifestyle for me I thought since I was young barbering was the only thing for me but as I gotten older I started diving into different avenues and businesses. Crypto, AirBnb, Stocks I said I could do More than Cut Hair I told myself I’m more than just a Barber but a business man. And that’s how’s I want the world to see me Now

Have you ever had to pivot?
The important pivot for me in my Life was to know don’t ever think you need to stick to one thing. Branch off into different avenues and figure out which one is for you. Yeah they tell Us don’t put your eggs all in one Basket. But that’s the only way you can sort through the eggs and see which one best works for you.
And that Fundamental pivot came into my life when i started AirBnb and crypto two years ago. I wanted to challenge myself more I felt I wasn’t Doing enough now I own and manage multiple stocks and Bitcoin and I have been in the AirBnb game for almost two years now.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Funding a business can be a very stressful and detrimental Time in your Career starting out! I had it Hard like everyone else not hand Outs no Loans! I started pretty much like everyone does. Saving every Dime that came in trying not to Buy food at restaurants or bars. Discipline is Definitely a major factor
